I'm looking for a Geo Metro and I think I've hit all the major internet searches. Is there any little known local postings where I could find this?

Go to a gas station and pick up some of those autotrader type mags. They have lower end cars galore.

[Edited on April 28, 2008 at 4:56 PM. Reason : Not sure of the names, but there are numerous local listings magazines,,,]

Yeah, I looked on auto trader online. I figured they'd have the same listings.

Are you related to slowback? Your post seem to be about equally worthless/incorrect, but at least you spell better.

Yeah I saw that one. I talked to him and he was firm on the $2600. I was looking for something more like $2000 or less. He fixes em up and sells em for profit and I'm lookin for someone wanting to unload one. Thanks though.

The only thing I'm lookin for really is awesome gas mileage. When looking I've come across the Geo Metro/Suzuki Swift and the Honda CRX HF. It just seemed like the Geo was the easiest to find.

Consider an mx3? There is one posted online, though the paint looked like crap. I get a consistent 35 in the city. more than 40mpg on the highway if you keep it around 65mph. But I like to go 70-75, so that drops it back down to 35 then too.

Hadn't thought of that one. I could look into that too. Although I liked the sound of 50 mpg with the others.

yeah you're right.

am I correct in thinking that the OP isn't interested in an old VW diesel b/c their prices are too high and that diesel is too high right now. B/c the mileage from those should be much better.

There was a version of the Metro called the Metro XFI. It had an even weaker engine and it got something like 53-58 mpg.

I haven't looked into the VW diesels too much. Which models and years would be the best?

Dude, if you want a cheap car, I got a '99 Saturn with 120k miles that gets 40 mpg highway

No need to drive a 15-20 year old car. Just give me a PM

look for a civic VX as well if you're considering multiple options.

is the ridiculous size, lack of comfort, and dangerously low power really worth saving a few bucks at the pump? accepting 5-8 less mpg will get you a FAR superior vehicle. i think you need to do the simple math of just how much you'd be saving and also consider that most interstates are 65-70mph speed limits now.

as for anything diesel, keep in mind that it's roughly 50 cents a gallon more than gas now. you could offset or drastically reduce that with bio fuels though.

I was looking at gas mileage on fueleconomy.gov, it won't list what package the Civic is such as cx, vx, hx. It just has alot of listings for "Civic" with different gas mileages.

The thought of getting in an accident in one of those little boxes doesn't make me want to go anywhere near one either.

^^looks rock solid, but you've got to wonder with the price of diesel outpacing that of gasoline.
