Clinton didn't pay him off and he's not purposefully sabotoging Obama.
He's just a typical egomaniac who thinks he can talk his way out of anything. In the process, he's just digging his hole deeper. 4/30/2008 3:28:44 AM |

he realizes that because of Obama's fame, he has a real shot to get famous and be heard. instead of trying to promote his friendship with obama, hes exploiting his relationship for personal fame. its backfiring, and he cant even see that. dont you just love christains?
V but hasnt it always been that way in the last 20 years? jessie jackson, al sharpton, rodney king, maybe even the black panthers dude.

Gingrich: Wright May Be Deliberately Trying to Hurt Obama
Quote : | "ABC News' Nitya Venkataraman Reports: In a Tuesday appearance on Good Morning America, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, R-Ga., suggested that controversial pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright is angry with parishioner Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and may be deliberately trying to hurt his presidential bid.
Saying that Wright 'went out of his way to weaken Obama' during Monday's address at the National Press Club [emphasis added], Gingrich told Barbara Walters 'I think Reverend Wright has a greater interest in his self-importance.'" |

he's actually a white CIA guy in a black guy costume and his mission is to make wright look very stupid and bascially just fuck shit up; at the same time he must spread AIDS wherever he goes, and also must distribute crack.
its a very intense operation. 4/30/2008 9:53:32 AM |

Joe I thought you came around on the good Rev.
I think the rev is a racist asshole, However, I was called just that for stating my opinion on the Rev.
However, he is amusing to what he does to the Obama campaign and makes the big O look desperate, in light of his recent poll numbers. 4/30/2008 2:26:55 PM |

So I got curious about this guy, and watched his speech at the NCAAP dinner in its entirety, and thought it was pretty good. His quotes were taken entirely out of context, and the theme of the entire sermon/speech was "different not deficient".
Not that I care either way if Obama ever had this guy as a preacher. 4/30/2008 3:27:42 PM |

^ yeah, something about "being seen in the company of other ducks"...
eyedrb -- i dont know what you mean, by "come around on the rev".
i've appreciated Wright's sermons in the past and he was pretty much right on, for much of what i've seen and read, and what wasnt necessarily correct, was at least a valid perspective/opinion/interpretation of events from his vantage point, considering he used to lead a significant large black protestant church in Soutside Chicago.
but if you're going to make a crazy conspiracy claim suggesting that the US Govt purposely spread AIDS as a method to get rid of minorities/homosexuals/whoever... then goddammit, you need to have some sort of credible evidence than besides "well, they done some fucked up shit in the past, so we can't put it past them"
i mean, his very good friend is running for President of the U S of F'n A, and he just cant shut the fuck up.
someone needs to put a flaming paper bag of dogshit on his porch and ring the bell.

I'm not defending the AIDS comment, but he did cite some book by a guy with "Dr." (horowitz or something) in his name that basically says the gov. did it.

Joe, I meant no offense. I thought I remember you being critical of the Rev when it first came out and making you question obama. Then you said later that he seemed fine and wasnt a big deal.
If it takes 20yrs to realize what a nut rev wrong is, how is obama going to size up foreign leaders? This is a pretty big blow to him, as the polls have shown. Basically take whatever its hurt in among democrats and amplify it for independents and undecideds. 5/1/2008 9:28:01 PM |

It's all calculated. At first, Obama thought he looked good by sticking with his man. He'd strengthen the minority vote by keepin' it real and sway some whites by appearing to be a man who sticks to his principals.
It turns out that his principals are tied to this conspiracy-paranoid ghetto-trash reverend. The whites see both of them for what they are and Obama does a 360.
Either way, Obama loses the election and the reverend gets a new set of rims from book and speaking deals. America is better off. 5/1/2008 11:47:58 PM |

Wright has a lot of good points on a lot of issues, and if anyone would take the time to listen to his sermons in context, you'd see that he's generally thoughtful and well reasoned. but he is opinionated and his ministry was forged in the pre-Civil Rights era, so he comes from a different slant than perhaps the average middle class white american. this doenst necessarily make him wrong.
But there are exceptions, and sometimes he takes his bombast too far. the AIDS thing is an example. I mean, he might as well go say "George Bush hired the guys to fly the planes into the WTC so he could go wage war on brown people." i mean its just that incredible.
but still -- you cant take a fiery, passionate preacher and extract a sentence or two from a half-hour (or longer) sermon here, and a sentence or two from an hour-long lecture there, and then make any kind of generalization about him or his church. to do so is completely intellectually dishonest.
however, this "performance" of his was just completely over the top, and considering the extremely poor timing of it, it was a slap in the face to someone who is supposed to be a family friend. Wright has just shown zero consideration for Obama, and the millions of people who support Obama's campaign and what they're trying to accomplish.
