yes, they've announced it, i guess that's cool and all, but I really don't know how they'd make a sequel to the first one since it was already wrapped up unless its a prequel or something

^That was a good game, but imo the first System Shock was the best (and was revolutionary for its time). Even though the graphics suck by today's standards, it is still a really fun game.

Hell yea. I usually play the whole thing through on a summer's day. It's fun as hell.

I think Bioshock 2 was rumored to be a prequel, can't say for sure though.

Anyway, it'll be awesome. I hope it's the story of the rise and fall of Rapture, perhaps through a civilians point of view.

Quote :
"In response to the game's high sales, Take-Two Chairman Strauss Zelnick revealed in a conference call to analysts that the company now considered the game as part of a franchise.[114] He also speculated on any follow-ups mimicking the development cycle of Grand Theft Auto, with a new release expected every two to three years.[115] [116]

On March 11, 2008, Take Two Interactive officially announced that the sequel to BioShock is being developed by 2K Marin, and is expected to be released before the 2009 holiday season.[117]

Additionally, similar industry rumors suggest a film adaptation of the game will also be made, utilizing similar green screen filming techniques as in the movie 300 to recreate the environments of Rapture.[118]"

I never played System Shock 1 or 2, but I've always heard they kicked ass, and I've always REALLY wanted to play them. Apparently the game can't run on XP or something, because I've downloaded the torrents but the game never seems to work. Help plz?

^^What was wrong with the second half of the game?

I'm pretty sure I remember reading that too. IIRC it's supposed to be about the fall of Rapture, which sounds like it would be awesome to play through.

Second half was pretty rushed. The first half had a ton of scary shit, and I was dumb enough to save my money and ammo like it was scarce. The second half had nothing new, insane weapons that trivialized every creature (chem gun reamed Big Daddies, splicers randomly had 3x the hp which was more annoying then dangerous), endless money/supplies, etc.

Still liked the game, though SS2 was in its time better.

After the plot "climax," the experience definitely went downhill, but I still loved it. I agree that the second half could have been alot better.

I'm willing to forgive it for the whole Fort Frolic section of the game

I actually went through most of the game using just the wrench, because I like to get up close and personal with melee weapons like that. Getting upgrades like Wrench Jockey and the other melee damage increase stuff made me all

Honestly not trying to troll here, but I didn't think the first one was all that great. It was good enough to finish the first play through, but I didn't really find it engaging enough for a second play through. It's just another FPS once the 'atmosphere' starts to lose it's initial wow factor.

I'm almost done with the game for the first time (I'm going after Atlas right now) and I really enjoy the game and I don't even play FPSs at all. The design and story are definitely the main draws with me. Can't wait for the sequels.

Lately I haven't found any game that I wanted to play through again, with the technical exception of Ninja Gaiden Black because I wanted to get back into the groove of the game in prep for NG2.

If you are playing BIOSHOCK just for the action, you missing half the point.
