unlike the recent headlines, ive had nothing but great thigns to say about TLC Vision

i got it done mid February and there were absolutely no problems...other than the day they sucked out my eye and cut it open, but they were just trying to help lol

^ that can depend on insurance too. who you have and what insurance is accepted by the doctor make a big difference obviously.

oooh yay

from mah vision insurance company's benefits site:

Quote :
"Plus, our members receive discounts at participating facilities as well as guaranteed “not to exceed” pricing. You won’t pay more than $1,500 per eye for PRK, $1,800 per eye for LASIK and $2,300 per eye for Custom LASIK."

that ain't bad

Quote :
"Talk to your VSP Laser VisionCare doctor. Laser centers in the VSP network offer enhancement procedures at no cost to you, if necessary. However, it is important for you to talk about your expectations with your VSP Laser VisionCare doctor before the surgery."

nice

even eyes that have had LASIK still naturally degrade over the years, my eyes will be back to where they were before LASIK in another 20 years

sweet. i hear BCBS has decent (like 1/2 price or so) benefits at approved surgeons with the right plan.

also what procedures did you guys get done

PRK is the cheapest... i'm assuming there's a reason it's so cheap (i.e. it sucks)... right?

theduke's had PRK

think it's more painful and longer recovery, but doesn't compromise the eye integrity as much

stupid state employee health insurance isn't saying anything about lasik :/

PRK is just a longer recovery (slightly less advanced technology. more invasive). i don't know the specifics, but i've heard it doesn't compromise results.
