I'm at my Uncle's house in Cumberland and all of his advertisements are censored by red rectangles. It wouldn't be so bad, except I can't read Yahoo News because the program considers that page to be one big ad.
What is causing this?? 5/6/2008 12:45:24 PM |

Touche
My thinking was that there was just one kind of ad blocking software that would do the red rectangles thing. I've looked at the list of programs on this computer and there is nothing I don't recognize.
I just wanna read my Yahoo news. Sigh 5/6/2008 12:52:20 PM |

well i doubt your uncle has a firewall other than Windows Firewall, so I'd say its either:
- a setting in your web browser's builtin / plugin ad blocker...scroll around the toolbars at the top and investigate teh settings
- a program like AdAware...scroll through the start menu and see if you see anything that starts with "Super AdAware" or "Ad Block"
should be a simple setting, but might take a little while to figure out which program 5/6/2008 12:57:03 PM |

Sorry for pulling you all away from work and class and what not, but thanks for all the help. I found it!
He uses Verizon DSL (I guess the only high speed you can get in this small town) and its Security Suite offers Ad Blocking. I disabled pop ups in lieu of banners.
And now that I have read the day's news, I am sufficiently depressed.
