rough math of 10 percent of 1.1 million votes = 110k votes...obama will prolly win at least 60-65% of that vote or around 70k to clintons 40k for a net of 30k...he is behind by 40k currently so he still loses by 10k rough math 5/6/2008 11:28:39 PM |

timezone has nothing to do with it
big city politics = slow when they want to be
Chicago is home of the phrase "vote early, vote often", and its not the windy city because of the lake breeze
That being said, I hope Obama squeaks out with the win 5/6/2008 11:54:33 PM |

are you suggesting that chicago is somehow causing Lake county Indiana to return their results slow? 5/6/2008 11:55:22 PM |
jackleg All American 170957 Posts user info edit post |
theres no doubt that lots of people in hammond and gary work in chicago, IL. which would put lots of people in the lake county polling places after work. and the polling places close at 6.
so you're looking at the potential of tons of suburbanites coming into polls at like 5:15 that close at (im pretty sure) 6pm
and they gotta let them all vote i think
so that explains it to me.
i think the media is causing stupid drama...
think about it.

but this mayor of hammond on CNN right now is definitely shady. he's saying he knows for sure that hillary won in like 12 different cities.
even though 1/4 of the votes just came in from that county and obama had 75% of them.
its almost like they're playing games on 2 fronts. and one of them is to detract on how bad clinton lost in NC after that stupid ad 5/7/2008 12:08:00 AM |

im not counting on barak winning indiana, but im caught up in the moment.
plus to see that it ended up being this close, that really hurts hillary.
i hate that they have this biased ass mayor on. he says he "knows" the numbers, even goes as far to say that obama won by 600 votes in X town. and that he did "decent" in gary. im gonna assume the 28% reporting so far is gary... so if 75/25 is "decent" then i'm interested to see what he calls "close"
why cant he offer any real numbers? he obviously knows them... unless, of course, they're just bullshitting

speaking of time zones, and a new topic.
it takes forever to drive through central on 40. all the way from eastern TN thru arkansas to oklahoma to the texas panhandle, and finally into new mexico
but once you hit new mexico and get to mountain, you can haul ass through NM, and in the spring and summer, AZ is on west coast time (the only part of AZ that does time changes is the navajo nation).
so you're only in mountain time for one state you can gain lots of time on that part of the drive!

yeah, i just can't believe they're all over TV assuming that everyone in gary voted obama. out of all the black people i know, about 1/5 are republican or 3rd party, and 4/5 are democrat. but then about half are for clinton and half are for obama.
and i think i know a more diverse group than a handfull out of the gary indiana phonebook. so i just dont get the black people = barak is gonna eat it alive. based off the people i know. if there were 100 of them in gary, then 20 would be for mccain, 35 for hilary, and 35 for barak. and maybe 10 would be undecided still, or 3rd party
so CNN is acting like gary got a 100% blacks for obama vote, when my friends and coworkers would be more like 35%. maybe i just know "weirdos"
wtf yo]5/7/2008 12:38:01 AM |

I'm saying that 91% of all black people who voted today chose Obama.
per CNN:

The 521,521 aren't just Republican voters, it's everyone who didn't choose a Democratic candidate for president.
I have no idea what you are trying to say 5/7/2008 12:48:52 AM |
jackleg All American 170957 Posts user info edit post |
got this info from my local tv news:
888,979 barak 655,482 hillary 35,048 other ---------------------------- 1,579,509 total democrat 514,134 total republican ---------------------------- 2,093,643 total president tickets cast 2,105,169 people voted according to board of elections ---------------------------- 11,526 people didnt vote for president (or missing precints)
so this quote:
Quote : | "Obama took an overwhelming 91 percent of the black vote in North Carolina, according to exit polls, while Clinton claimed only 6 percent." |
so lets work with this cause they're numbers we "know" (mine) to be true (and we will assume CNN is right)
but what i wanna understand.
they say 91% of the AA's voted for Obama 6% voted for clinton
so im thinking this is saying that 91% of black DEMOCRATS voted for obama, right?
edit: im really not trying to say anything, got no agenda or whatever. just trying to understand the numbers they're throwing at me. if anything, any potential beef would be with CNN]5/7/2008 1:11:01 AM |
