About a year ago, I lost my keys at Knight's Play; luckily, I had a spare key in one of those magnet things under my fender. I drove back to my apartment, got out, and my alarm started going off. I couldn't turn it off and neither of my roommates were home, so I just drove around trying to figure out what the fuck to do. I went to the Nissan place on Wake Forest, it was closed. I drove to the top of the Dan Allen Deck, let the alarm go off for like 5 minutes, it wouldn't stop. As I was getting back in my car, alarm blaring, my hand grazed my back left pocket -- there were my keys, they had been there the entire time. I hit the alarm button on the keyless entry and drove home. What a fucking moron I am.

We carry the Big Easy in our patrol cars, they work great.

Sorry dude, but that was kinda funny. Got a half-smirk out of me anyway.

No advice on what to do in your situation Walter, but for future reference, I keep two spares on me at all times. Because I wear a bra, I can just clip one onto my strap, and the other goes in my wallet.

Locksmiths can be found under the yellow pages, and they do charge an arm and a leg with guaranteed results (the one I looked up for a Mexican woman at a gas station did, anyway, but he seemed rude over the phone).

Sign up for AAA, it's totally worth it. I got locked out of my car and they got me back in like 15 minutes after I called.

i remember i did this once

cops will only come and do it if a child or animal is in the car or the car is running

also, the AAA guys said they cant do it because they arent allowed to carry slimjims anymore

so a locksmith has to

the big easy is sweet

A. first you jam the wedge in the door
then you take the blood pressure cuff n slide it in the crack
then you pump the cuff to crack the door open even more
then you bend the poking stick to a good angle to slide through the crack and hit the button
then you use the poking stick to poke the door unlock button
B.?

C. Profit

If you are on campus, they used to be able to do it for you. Don't know if they still will.

I knew some guy back in high school that locked his keys in his new bmw, with it running. he left it there to phone someone. when he came back, there was some broken glass on the ground and the car was gone.

this is why i carry a spare in my wallet

then again, mine's a cheap car, so the key is relatively small and unobtrusive

If you lock them in there with the car running, you can call the policia to unlock it for free; they may give you a slap on the wrist since it is technically against the law to leave an unattended running vehicle.....happened to me on Hillsborough St. a couple years back, but I was on my way in like 15 mins

If you have alltel get the roadside assistance added. It is the best thing ever. I have used it for three lock pops and two tows in the last six months. There is no co-pay you just have to have your cell phone with you.

On one of the occasions my girlfriend (and the alltel phone) was not there and she did a three way call to page them out to where I was 45 minutes away and they did not say a word.

I did that this morning

Still don't know where my original set is, with the fob, but I'm using a spare I had made a couple weeks ago that I have had lying on the floor.

USAA FTW
