Especially people I've never seen before, who aren't even semi-regular customers...

I have no reason to give you a 20% discount on a $200 item, and I'm sure as hell not giving you one now that you've asked in a smarmy tone.

There is never anything funny about trying to save money. Stand and talk like you are looking for a job, and you just might get a discount.

Some people ask nicely...I have no problem with that.

The people who say, "So I'm getting fifteen or twenty percent off, right?" like they're my friend...blah.

^ "Work" is a very loose term for what I do. I sit around and every now and then someone waltzes in and pays me for some item in the room I'm sitting around in. Then I go somewhere else and they pay me to play music. Then I go home and someone elses pays me to correct grammar.
