Want something for my girlfriend to ride. prefer no older than 10 years and something in good shape cosmetically and functionally. Needs to be ready-to-ride. Looking to spend max of $1500. Let me know if you've got one or some other small bike that she can learn on. 5/10/2008 11:41:42 PM |

yamaha virago 250 and a suzuki gz250 would also be a good choice for your girlfriend to get bored with after 3 months. 5/11/2008 2:51:54 PM |

yea, but shes convinced that she won't wanna go faster than 60. And shes on a budget. I've been telling her she will wanna get rid of it once shes gets the hang of riding. I just wanna get her riding with me. 5/11/2008 6:00:25 PM |

I suggest a Ninja 250. Unless she is too short, it hasa 31" seat height so she might not flat foot it. It will do 100, but does any speed well and it looks a lot nicer. Unless she wants a cruiser. It will also be able to do the highway while a rebel might crap out around 70-75. Also, itll cost about as much as a rebel.
Get her to take the MSF. They usually have lots of Rebels, GZ250s and Viragos at those, so she can see if she wants one of those type bikes, or bigger. 5/12/2008 9:09:07 AM |

She's been saying she wants more of a cruiser. Since they are a very low center of gravity and they won't be too quick like a sports bike would. 5/12/2008 10:30:03 AM |

The ninja 250 i mentioned isnt that quick. Quicker than most cars, but not dangerous. hell, its barely even a sport bike. low center of gravity is good i guess, but not an issue unless she gets a bigger bike. she should go to dealers and sit on a bunch to find which are comfortable. but she should take the MSF BRC course first. its $100 for 20hrs of lessons and the ability to figure out what fits. 5/13/2008 8:14:11 AM |
