considering they only play a couple hits, some B sides, and mostly C and D sides, their shows have gone downhill

the thing with a band who has many singles and radio popularity is that they need to play their singles. i would say a majority of people buy tickets to hear songs that they know.

when i saw them around the time that by your side came out, they did that. since then, chris robinson has become the crazy weird person that he is and they barely play any of their singles.

Wayne Coyne (Flaming Lips): "Okay, we're gonna play 'She Don't Use Jelly' now. Now, a lot of bands that have one hit get bitter about it and don't want to play it any more, but those bands are assholes. Let's face it...if we didn't have that song be a hit on the radio, we would've lost our record deal and we wouldn't be here right now. So, with that said, we're going to have a party while we play this song. Here's some confetti [throws bags of confetti into the crowd]. Feel free to party with us and throw it during this song."

Black Crowes is a great show. I saw them play a couple years ago knowing nothing but their hits. They didn't play any of them and it was still an awesome show.

what's a good, fairly safe, but most importantly inexpensive hotel that's walking distance to Lincoln?

Even the goddamn King's Motel is safe enough, although not really walking distance.

All of the downtown hotels are within walking distance of Lincoln, if you consider walking distance 10-15 minutes or less. Days Inn on Dawson is probably the cheapest, followed by the Clarion (or whatever it is now).
