Yeah...get rid of it.

Trivia fact: Ketchup and Mustard were the nick names of the two cyborg ninjas in Mortal Kombat 3, Sektor and Cyrax, respectively.

it's still good. but you should use a lot of it to be sure you get the full flavor. and no sense in putting it back in the fridge, just leave it out till you use it all

This is relevant to my interests. I just used a big ass bottle that's been in the pantry for a while, the date on it says 6/2007. Tasted fine, a little warm. Just used it Monday night, and I'm ok so far.

when i was younger i would go to my friend's house to spend the night. his parents never refrigerated their ketchup or mustard. they just kept it in the cabinet. they're all still alive, one of his brothers is in prison, but still alive.

If you leave the mustard out for too long it can ferment and release mustard gas, which can be fatal.

Mustard doesn't spoil. It may lose flavor over time, but you wont get sick from it.

Ketchup does spoil, but you're still probably okay after a few days, just smell it. it ferments

ketchup doesn't have to be refrigerated after opening and my bottle of mustard says "for best flavor, refrigerate after opening". So I would say they would both be ok, but the mustard may not taste "the best"

restaurants go through ketchup so quickly it probably doesn't have to be refrigerated

what boggles my mind is the squirt mayo that says you don't need to refrigerate.

I know places that refill the glass bottles and ultimately the same old ketchup stays at the bottom for ages. Eventually it ferments and builds pressure and blows out the rest of the ketchup when a customer opens it.

So they started Xing out letters of HEINZ on the neck label and then threw them out when all five were crossed out.

I've been in several restaurants where ketchup and mustard was on the table at room temp. Always tasted fine and I'm sure they had been out at least all day, if not longer.

The last time that I had gross old ketchup was at Sadlacks.

I said something to the bartender and he had no idea that ketchup could go bad.

i thought places that left ketchup/mustard/mayo out had like a different kind made especially for restaurants that didn't require refrigeration.

perhaps i will google.

ok so apparently there is a kind of non refrigeratable mayo.

and then ketchup and mustard don't spoil out of the fridge fast because of vinegar. who knew.

What a shitty thread. Is it too complicated to figure out if food is spoiled?
Can you smell ?
Can you taste?

I don't refridgerate ketchup or mustard (spicy brown). I usually have a bottle for at least 3 months. Never gotten sick, never tasted off, never smelled bad. Nothing.

YMMV, but I don't intend to start keeping either cold. Mayo is a different story. I've encountered that before.

Ketchup can go unrefrigerated.
I don't know about mustard cuz I don't eat it.
Mayo definitely has to be refrigerated.

Ketchup and mustard do not have to be refrigerated. They can go weeks and still be ok.

why would you eat ketchup in a place that doesn't serve fries?
more to the point, why would you eat at sadlacks?

^^ I think his question really means I had them refrigerated and left them out, so are they still good.

If the question is do you have to refrigerate them, then the answer is no.

i guess i am biased - i lived a block away before they renovated, like early 2000's before they put up the gate between the parking lots...

Yes I was sketched out to eat there or drink there, but there sandwiches were off the chain (I usually got them to go).
