The Early College at Guilford absolutely killed the Brain Game last Saturday.

I'm not surprised. Their breadth and depth of knowledge was pretty impressive. Granted, it's a small sample, but their best were leaps and bounds better than any other school's best.

With the exception of New Hanover, Southeastern North Carolina DOES NOT represent. Kinda sad. I would expect my high school to be ranked if they made a list of the worst public high schools.

Given the overabundance of Guilford schools on the list, I'd say they gave far too much weight to AP enrollment.

They're notorious for pushing AP to students who shouldn't be AP, and a lot of those Greensboro schools are crap.

Completely terrible methodology

Here is their formula:

Criteria #1) Number of AP(or equivialent) Tests Taken / Graduating Seniors
Criteria #2) There is no other criteria

Rewards schools that have a lot of AP students and a lot of dropouts.

Doesn't reward actually doing well on AP tests

If you have the whole school take AP tests, half get 1s and 2s, and a lot of the students don't graduate, you would be far and away #1 on the list.

^Missed that one. That being said, SBHS was definitely the best small high school in the southeast NC. Lot better than West Brunswick...and didn't you guys have a new high school built somewhat recently (in the last 10 or so years)??

well that explains why so many guilford county/greensboro schools are on there. The school system REQUIRES you to take the AP exam if you take an AP class, whereas it's typically optional.

This list is worthless.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg pays for every AP test so families don't have to spend the ~$75/test

basically, probably over half the people fail the test or don't reap any benefits from them, but so many people take AP tests that it overinflates CMS statistics to make them appear like they're a good school system (which they're not)
