okay, so my laptop came with a hauppauge wintv-hvr-1500 (express card):

http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hvr1500.html

i wanted to use it in my desktop, so i bought an express card pcie converter card (which, really, shouldn't require a lot of processing since express card and pcie are the same thing, just different interfaces)...i even hooked up the internal USB connector

the hauppauge software is buggy and tends to be very choppy on my machine...i would think i'd done something wrong, but it works flawlessly (well, display-wise) with dscaler (the program only displays one channel and throws and error when you try to change)...the channel it's on actually does just fine - no skipping and perfect audio

i tried windows media player classic and it does the same thing as the hauppauge software and skips...am i missing something? i'd probably be disappointed had i actually PAID for this, but it was free...doesn't change the fact that i'd really like for it to work...are they any other freeware programs out there that might do better?
