so i was behind this big ol' redneck at the gas station counter this morning

cashier asks him how many dollars worth of gas he wants

so he stands there for a moment, looks around, stands there some more thinking hard

then he gets pissed and says he's going to the station across the street

MOTHERFUCKER STORMED OUT THE STORE BECAUSE THEY TRIED TO MAKE HIM DO MATH

and as i was leaving, i saw him standing all sullen at the end of the cashier line

i'm guessing he saw that it was ¢4/gal higher at the other station and came back

good for him, at least he was able to figure out that math problem

---

On an unrelated note, short buses should be allowed to drive faster since their cargo isn't as precious as normal buses

every morning i drive past this fat, dirty guy waiting at the side of the road like he's catching a schoolbus, with a plastic bag in his hand. except this guy looks like he's at least 40. i do not know what he's doing. hopefully it doesn't involve killing children.

i was in a gas station and the guy in front of me kept saying he wanted 5 gallons of gas, and the lady kept asking how much money he wanted on the pump and he kept saying 5 gallons... then he yelled at his kids because they wanted 25 ring pops and he would only buy them 2.

he paid for the gas with a card, and paid for the ring pops with change

it was strange

the thing is though, i used to work at a cvs in the area, and i saw this guy come in a lot. i don't know if he's of the mental condition to work or not. [seriously]

i'm sure you're right though, i don't know what else he could be doing out there... aside from kidnapping.

Seems like a reasonable request.

If he knows how much gas he needs, and he's going to use a card anyway, why should he have to figure out how much it will cost?

Was he getting gas in a can or something? Because normally I just prepay for $20 or some other round number and then if I need change, I just go back and get it. I usually don't calculate how many gallons I'm buying.

^^^^good point.

he probably had a five gallon gas tank. he don't care how much it costs, he needs to fill it up. why should he figure exactly how much money it'll take to fill his tank?

That's retarded. Who the fuck has a 5 gallon gas tank? You really think the cashier is gonna bust out a calculator, ask which grade he wants, and round up to the nearest cent?

i'm not sure who actually needs to break out the calculator in that situation. the customer or the salesperson/cashier. either way, he shouldn't have stormed out pissed off, thats retarded.

imo the cashier/gas station is providing a service/product. if a customer is going to exchange money for said product at the set rate, why should it matter the quantity?

the cashier was caught off guard by the atypical request and wasn't able to make the sale.

IF you tell them you are going to fill up, and leave the card, you can avoid having to theorize how many gallons it's going to take.

the quantity would matter. the customer does not want to over/under fill his tank. he wanted exactly five gallons. if they agreed on say $20, the tank would overfill, if gas is $3.79/gallon. all the cashier had to do was take 5 x 3.79 = $18.95 and the situation would have been resolved. however, the customer could have done the same. someone in line could have done it in a cell phone calculator. oh well.

i haven't made a gasoline only purchase inside of the station in like 5 years. i'm surprised even rednecks still do that.

^^^That's asking quite a bit from some of the cashier's I've seen working these hillbilly c-stores. Sometimes I think they've forgotten how to change clothes.
