The only problem is I don't believe there currently is a viable plan out there that would prevent the quality of my healthcare from going down at the expense of insuring the uninsured. Basically the situation is good on my end and I have no incentive to change it. Especially with the amount of poor people who are fat or smoke. I excercise and take care of myself. Why should I be forced to pay money to take care of people who don't?

Universal healthcare is one of my biggest knocks on the Democrats. Why? Because there's no personal accountability. You can do whatever you want to your body and the government is still going to have to foot the bill. And in this case the government footing the bill isn't benefitting me in any way unless I'm the one with the health problem. The same can't be said for the other things you listed. If you committ a crime you and you alone are arrested by the very system you pay to protect you. If you slack off in high school and don't obtain the benefits of a high school or college diploma, that's your fault and you alone suffer the consequences. If you eat nothing but crap and have heart disease by the time your forty you and I both have to pay for that (assuming we have universal healthcare). And I'm sorry, but I'm just not that altruistic.
