how to do it, pls?

i'd prefer a GNU/Linux solution. I seem to have problems with copying DVDs on Vista.

and yeah, if you want to make fun of me for being a noobtard, knock yourself out. i don't do this stuff for a living. i just need to put a clip from a DVD onto a webpage asap.

Pinnacle has a USB device that will do this straight to an external USB storage device. No need for Software.

It's about $130. We use them as a failsafe backup in our labs incase the video encoding/streaming webservers shit the bed.

OK I SEE HOW IT IS

you college kids have been slapped around by the RIAA and MPAA lawyers so much, you've all just decided to bend over and let them call you Susie.

you should be ashamed.

REAL college students would sit down in the middle of the public square and set themselves on fire for their rights. Well, okay... it was Buddhist monks and it was back in the Vietnam War era, but whatever, you get my point

Anyhow, I figured it out already, so never mind. Ill put my video clip on the website and sit back and wait for the Cease And Desist letter.

use Handbrake to rip a whole Title or Chapter to an MPEG, then some other video editing program to trim it down to the clip that you want.

Is it still against the DMCA to circumvent DRM?

what, you mean you don't???

okay... i want to get everyone's phone number in case i have technical problems during late-nights or holidays. if you guys want to schedule some sort of on-call system, that's fine with me. i think a pager might be a good solution.
