based on the documentation I was sent I estimated the cost of my graduate housing at around $9k for the year
now I'm finding that the range is actually from $9,900 to around $17,000
guess its time to sell my stocks

Yeah, should have checked craigslist before accepting. I didn't even apply to MIT because of the cost of housing and of course the stipend is the same as here.
