Mom is definitely voting Obama. Mom's boyfriend could go either way but probably McCain. Dad will probably be too hungover to care.

My money says that mom will vote for McCain, but politics remains a pretty private matter in our household.

Dad won't be voting for anyone. He's been dead for a number of years. I always pegged him for a democrat that would sometimes vote republican. In this election, I would think he'd vote for McCain also.

Me- McCain
Mom- Obama
Sister- Hardcore Obama
Dad- Making progress on converting him to McCain right now i'd say 60% he'd vote obama if election were today.

My parents are definitely voting for Obama, although he wasn't their first choice for the primary (no it wasn't Clinton).

My parents were split originally.

my mom liked Rudy Guiliani

my dad was for Tom Tancredo

they'll probably suck it up, hold their nose and vote for McCain... unless the Religious Right fields a third party candidate.

+2 for mccain easily, they are middle class + have jobs = don't want the 10% tax hikes.

All my relatives will probably vote Republican

for social issues

the closest thing I have to a democrat relative is my sister-in-law's boyfriend.

My mom's def. voting for Obama. Her husband, I have no idea. He voted for Huckabee in the NC primary just to vote for anybody that wasn't John McCain, so I don't know what he'll do in the general. Haven't really talked politics with him before.

My dad really likes Obama, which is interesting because he's been a republican for at least 20 years. He basically thinks Ronald Reagan is Jesus, didn't like Clinton, liked GWB for quite a while, at least enough to vote for him twice (although he now reluctantly / jokingly admits that GWB was pretty much a catastrophe). Dunno about my step mom. She was a die-hard democrat until about six or seven years ago, but she's grown steadily more conservative over the years. Her parents are definitely Southern Democrats, i.e. they are very political, have voted Dem almost all their life, but also have confederate flags on their cars and really don't like it when "coloreds" move into their neighborhood.

I was just visiting with family over the weekend and got to see my granddad and my step-granddad, Richard, talk a bit of politics. I love my granddad's take on things.

Richard: You been watching the election any, Jim?
Jim: Yeah. They're both talking all the damn time and ain't neither one of 'em says a goddamn thing.

Richard: What d'ya think about them tornadoes? (we were watching CNN all day and it was all either about the tornadoes out west or the earthquakes in China)
Jim: Weather's changin'.

Richard: How 'bout those gas prices?
Jim: They ain't goin' down.

My mom will probably vote for Obama or McCain. She has not made up her mind yet. But she doesn't want to vote for Hillary. She said she doesn't trust a woman to be President.

My Dad will reluctantly vote for McCain. He really wanted Huckabee to win the Republican nomination, but he still likes McCain bettter than Obama.

my dad always makes a point to vote for the candidate that looses. And so far he's not made a wrong pick. Since this one will be close, he'll probably have to wait up until the last minute.

Why? I don't know.

My mom will probably vote for McCain, even though word has it she's really frustrated he doesn't embody all the "family values" so important to Christian conservatives. I doubt she'd ever vote for a candidate who favors gay rights, safe-sex education (nevermind the fact that neither her, her siblings, or children practices/practiced abstinence), and pro-choice policies.

My dad is definitely voting Obama, assuming he registers in time. This will probably the first time he voted in a long time.

both my parents voted for Clinton in the Primary. my mom is a real supporter and my dad said he won't vote for Obama since he's a Muslim. *sigh*

i've always been a McCain fan, but we'll see who makes the best case in the fall.

Wife and I, McCain x2. Basically holding my nose and pulling the lever.

Its going to be an uphill battle though.

my parents will vote mccain.

i am not sure yet. i love mccain's history of service to the country but really really hate the incessant whining and name calling from the Democrats and so I may vote for Obama in hopes they quit bitching like little girls having there first period for at least four years

plus, there needs to be an African American president

Obama x3

plus myself and my g/f and her parents x2

ftw.

i don't understand how people can actually persuade others to go from a fresh changed white house to keeping the status quo there. its like de-evolution almost.

No there doesn't need to be an african american in the white house. There needs to be the best person for the job in the white house. Thats whats wrong with you liberals, you think in terms of race all the time. Thats like saying we need a black football coach here instead of hiring the best person for the job. Obama is the most flawed presidential candidate that actually has a shot at winning in a long time. I can't wait till he has to actually answer questions about his policies in person and not say goto my website. He will ruin this country and the supporters of him don't understand why because they just think in terms of change.

When Bush was running for president, he had to answer questions about his policy. And Bush has done a decent job, considering how sorry most of the american people are these days. Obama will take everything from the people that have worked for a living and give it to the crackheads. The reason Mccain will win is because this is a war on our culture. Most civilized people understand that the traditional values that america was founded on are in jeopardy with Obama. Thats why Obama can't win the working class because all he has are the people that are easily influenced (college kids) or extremely rich who don't have to work. The liberals can't stand the principles that America was founded on and are trying to undermine our society.

Obama isn't a blame America first person. His policies just aren't good for america and our values. He caters to the sorry people in America who want everything given to them, like almost all democrats do.

to add to sputters post below me, which i agree with, sometimes i worry that thuggish/gangsters/uneducated blacks will go crazy if obama wins...i can see some of them having a mindset like "oh shit ni**a, we got up in da whitehouse, they cant touch us now"..stuff like that..i feel it would be a small percentage of african americans but still think it will happen in some cases

I think that you are underestimating what good it could do for this country to have an African American president. I mean, that's really the only good reason to vote for Obama.

Black parents everywhere can tell their children with all the truth in the world that they really can become whatever they want to. Imagine growing up feeling like no matter how good you were, you could never become president.

In order for you to be OK with it bigun, you can think about it in a different way, there will pretty much no longer be a need for affirmative action and other latently racist policies in the US. You can't exactly complain about being held down when there is an African American president. I would almost bet that people like Al Sharpton are secretly hoping that Obama loses so that they can point their fingers and say, "look, American isn't any different than it was 150 years ago."

Uh, compare Bush's pre-2000 resume to Obama's.

Obama's accomplished much more-- without an oil baron/CIA chief/president father.

Yes, and once he got into office he completely ignored most of how he answered. There's an excellent debate put together by The Daily Show a few years ago between Governor George W. Bush and President George W. Bush. Go find it on the internet somewhere.

Another reason I think the majority of Americans are morons. Do you dumb*ss f*ckers honestly think these candidates are going to do what they'll see they do now? Heck no. They'll pander any way they can to get you to vote for them, and once you do you've pretty much given them the equivalent of a Get Out of Jail Free card for 4 years.

Your dad likes McCain cause McCain is military or cause your dad is military? My dad is military and he hates McCain, although he'll vote for him cause he hates Obama and Clinton more.

.GW was much much much more qualified as a candidate than Obama is now. He was actually a gov. of a state. Meaning he had to make decisions and live with the consiquences. Obama is a senator meaning all he does is vote. If you look at his record he never has really gotten much of anything done.

And if you think the daily show is a good who to get your news from then you need to wake up. thats like saying Bill Mayer put together a piece about GW and young GW.

Barack Obama - Senator
