Not really. Both are bad in their own way.

sorry kevin, i gotta be the douche to say:

cries of the past / act of depression (tied) > the changing of times > they're only chasing safety > define the great line

theyre fairly stand up guys though and I cant lie that im jealous for how huge theyve gotten now

i used to go see their current singer play in a band with his brother (9 down) in greensboro back in high school.

that being said, they're not really my cup of tea.

im not quite sure what being Christian has to do with a band's musical content (unless you have some big beef with the lyrics which would be kind of silly) and they havent been anything close to metalcore in about 8 years. im not a huge fan of them currently, just sayin.

to be fair i only listened to that one about 1-2x through. i had kind of grown out of them and didnt give it as much of a chance. i have too much of a tie to underoath and this runs through as separate bands too....and im stubborn.

didnt yall name the band after Young and Aspiring?? i would think u would rank that album higher

i seriously recommend getting the live album. its really incredible how right and spot on they are, especially with the style and complexity of their stuff.

what's "silly" about having beef with lyrics?

^^ i've actually had people seriously ask me that before/suggest that and im just like /facepalm IRL

^ its only silly in that for the most part, the people that have beefs with lyrics use that as a cop-out against why they dislike a band who happens to be Christian. believe it or not /gasp, most bands who happen to also be Christians (the ones who arent out to write church praise music or adult contemporary christian "rock") write music the same way every other bands do...so I never quite understood why because a band has lyrics that are Christian they automatically suck musically. it really has no logic. and usually the people who resort to blaming it on the lyrics because they dont support or believe in them are pretty darn hypocritical when they arent that picky about the lyrics of the other bands they listen to...

always good when you can find something like that.

Beloved's "Failure On" is like that for me. Especially death to traitors... "WE WERE BORN FOR BATTLE, WITHOUT VISION WE WILL DIE" If you cant get pumped up to that I think something is wrong with you.

yeah I get that feeling listening to The Last Lament, starting about the 4min mark to the end of the song. [/riding CTA's Jamie's nuts ]

haha, thats my favorite 4 mins of music on our EP myself from a playing standpoint.

On a related note, we are about halfway through a full length of completely new material. Who knows how long it will take to finish though since we all live in completely different cities at the moment haha. /blog

To be honest some of the best metal i've listened to is christian... those dudes have some serious pent up frustration cause they never get laid (or thats my theory).

if any of u download and watch the underoath dvd, theres reaallly good footage of some girl after a show hatin on Tim (guitarist) for making money off selling themselves as christian metal....what ensued was one of the best responses i think possible from Tim and it was really really interesting to hear what he had to say

most of the lyrics seem to be about pain and using faith to overcome obstacles

there is no i love you jesus crap except for the last song on TOCS

i don't really care about their faith because its probably the heaviest thing i can listen to and enjoy right now

without wanting to start some argument, I'd have to say whoever feels that probably has more beef with religion than interest in the quality of the music being listened to. with that said, fuck the emo haircuts
