has anybody taken this class sophomore year? i think i might take it in the fall but i haven't taken bio 183 yet and my adviser (dr.knopp) says i should take 183 before biochem 6/3/2008 12:15:04 AM |

I took BCH 451 as a post bachelor student and hadn't had BIO since sophomore year in HS ( 9 year ago). If you have a memory and work a little bit you don't need to take BIO 183.

If you have had zero exposure to metabolic processes (Glycolysis, Kreb's Cycle, Electron Transport Chain to be specific) then you may find the course overwhelming towards the end. Otherwise, it is *possible* to succeed in the class even if it is your first look at the material. I would be more concerned with your chemistry background. Have you taken (and done reasonably well in) CH221/223? CH201? A solid background in these courses will probably be the most helpful for BCH451. 6/3/2008 10:24:14 AM |
