"In a recent filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Activision has let it slip that Aerosmith won't be the only band to get a dedicated Guitar Hero game. Metallica is set to receive it's own entrant into the rapidly expanding franchise sometime in the near future with Guitar Hero: Metallica. No further details aside from the title were revealed but given Activision's history of sharing the love, you can expect to find it on numerous gaming platforms.

According to the document, "In fiscal 2009, we [Activision] plan to publish Guitar Hero: On Tour for the NDS; Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero: Metallica, and Guitar Hero IV across multiple platforms." If you care to read the entire report, head over to the SEC archives. There you'll also see that Activision's fiscal year ends on March 31, meaning you'll see Guitar Hero Metallica on store shelves before that date in 2009."

The only thing that worries me is that they might try to promote their upcoming album by putting some stuff from it on the game. I'm not a huge fan of their most recent stuff (I like anything Metallica up to and including Garage Inc.). I just know that they will have all my favorites on there and that is what excites me.

Yeah, I'm the same way. I am sure they will have some of the new stuff but I hope it is not the main focus of the game.

can't you already download metallica tracks for rock band (and i assume guitar hero)...why would people want to pony up $?? for the full game when they can just dl whatever tracks they like?

Because you can't just download whatever tracks you like. There's only like, 6.

Guitar Hero 3 has "One"
Rock Band has "Enter Sandman"

On Rock Band you can download three more Metallica songs.

That's all that is available.

this is stupid, lame and one more fucking way for Metallica and Activision/Neversoft to milk money out of fans.

I don't understand attitudes like that. So you think all the songs should be free?

no, I'm fine with DLC.

I'd buy a Metallica pack, in fact I did with Rock Band.

But why release another $60 game for some characters who look like Metallica and some songs they could have released as DLC.

Gimmick.

It's bullshit.

I think I've found a solution for you.

Don't buy it.

Problem solved.

because its gonna be 25+ metallica songs

the aerosmith one is 40 tracks with 60% being aerosmith and 40% being "opening acts"

plus the opening acts for metallica are prob pretty decent

im way more interested in this than aerosmith

Yeah, I mean the way I see these is just as giant DLC packs. At 40 songs, it would cost you almost $100 to get all those songs as DLC. And just like DLC, if you don't like it, don't buy it.

I don't see what the big issue is. Yeah, it would be great if every song ever made was available to download, but that's not how it works, and more songs is more songs, as far as I see it.

Yeah they may be money grubbing. But you can't deny that they have some really good songs.
