i don't quite understand what hillary clinton has been doing, and why she supposedly isn't going to formally call it quits even tonight.

She seems like a rather intelligent woman... Her actions as of late seem incongruent with an extremely well-crafted political career.

I suspect we're missing a significant piece of the puzzle. She's too smart for this, unless there is something much grander planned.

^^^ (to nutsmackr) that is exactly what i was thinking.

my other predictions for the next couple of days:

1. (this one is kind of bad, but ppl are getting pissed and are crazy these days) obama or hillary is gonna get assasinated
2. mccain picks romney to be running mate
3. hillary runs as 3rd party. (nucular option that i've been referring too)

she has been arguing for awhile that she has more votes than Obama. Typical democrat, wanting to change the rules after the fact. At least with the dem primary it makes more sense, bc of the superdelegates can agree with her claim.

Still cant believe they seated those two states, makes them look weak.

haha, awesome.

I dont think she will give in the nomination tonight, just the fact he has more delegates. I think she will continue on the popular vote issue.

i can't fathom how someone who went to their church for 20 years could possibly have any anti-white sentiments...that church is a bastion of tolerance and non-racism...the good Reverend Wright is also a model citizen

a) 3rd party run
b) no vp, help obama but secretly want him to lose so you can run on 2012
c) yes vp, help obama, but if he loses run in 2012

anymore i'm missing? we should list out all possible scenarios and vote on which one is most likely

^^^I was joking with that. She is too much of a democrat to allow that. Allow I could see her trying to torpedo it so she can set up a run in 2012

I can't think of any where else to put this, but it was too good to not post. Since Obama is now the presumed nominee, I suppose this thread is apt. It's really just a beautiful quote.

Quote :
"A year ago, it looked as if the Republicans were in total disarray and would fight over the nominee all the way to the convention, while the Democrats would quickly unite around a nominee, probably from the center-left, and go into the fall elections heavily favored. So much for the smart money.

We've learned instead that the Democrats still suffer from some of the same class and ideological divisions that surfaced 40 years ago and helped to usher in the Age of Reagan. Many starry-eyed Democrats either don't care about those divisions or, oddly, welcome them. The left wing of the party has been dreaming of a new winning coalition of affluent liberals, college students, and African-Americans for, it seems, forever. It's always failed. But having come close to winning the nomination yet again, the Democratic left will try once more.

Insanity has been defined as doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. I've been hearing about the advent of a new "transformational" politics ever since I reached voting age (which is longer ago than I care to remember). I am aware that some experts say the demographics have shifted, that the time has finally come for a new party coalition. Yet many of these same experts have been saying for a long time that key to any new Democratic majority is the rapidly expanding Hispanic vote (which has largely abjured the Barack Obama stampede), and not a revamped version of the McGovern and Dukakis base of 1972 and 1988. I could be dead wrong—but forgive me if I remain unmoved by a media-hyped movement of self-regarding people who proclaim that they are the change the world's been waiting for."

Most folk at Slate may be in the tank for Obama, but apparently not everyone.

she is exploiting the divide between the Obama and Clinton camps and is trying to set it up so that the only chance Obama has to win is to bring her on board (with all of her votes) as VP.

http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/03/clinton-campaign-confronts-ap-report/

Quote :
"The Associated Press posted its report at around 11 a.m., prompting an immediate round of blog posts and “breaking news” banners on cable focused on the report’s lead that “Hillary Rodham Clinton will concede Tuesday night that Barack Obama has the delegates to secure the Democratic nomination, campaign officials said, effectively ending her bid to be the nation’s first female president.”

Within 20 minutes, the Clinton campaign had responded with this statement: “The AP story is incorrect. Senator Clinton will not concede the nomination this evening.”"

he either gives her the second slot or she endorses McCain and/or runs third party and does a Perot. Hell, she only has to get on like 12 states and she destroys Obama's chances. Though, talk about a backstabber, she will just be waiting.........
