I guess he was trying too, maybe he needs better contacts or something. He mangled his words at least a dozen times before I turned it off. He also was trying to mimic obama way too much and made a fake sounding laugh at the end of each attempted point. I have a tremendous deal of respect for him but if he wants to win the election he is gonna have to beat that. He is already fighting the critics for being too old and then he goes on national TV from a tiny rally in new Orleans and keeps stumbling over each sentence.

Obama had like 30,000

Obama > McCain

once a couple of you ppl graduate/ get a job and starting making a few dollars, you'll change your mind from this tax-loving platform he's running and reality will hit the fan while all your tax dollars are going to support the "disenfranchised" while your left out in the cold all because you decided you wanted to succeed in life

just give it some time. you'll see then why all the "old", i mean "white", i mean "working" people don't care for this guys frothy speeches.

they all tax and they all overspend. Shit I paid an assload of taxes this year.. it can't get any worse.

Just give me 1/100000000 of what was spent in Iraq and I'll go retire to Hawaii and you'll never hear from me again.

you can double the amount of taxes you pay if obama becomes president

wouldn't that just be AWESOME?!

^^dude...universal healthcare...someone's gotta pay for everyone to get healthcare

personally, i'm in a position where i get pretty good health care that doensn't cost me that much. half of it is because i'm lucky, half of its because i worked a little bit to be in a position to be that lucky.

if universal healthcare comes along...either

a) i'm helping someone else pay for the same healthcare i'm gonna get...why should i as an individual have to do that?

b) i'm probably gonna have to pay more than what i do now...again, why should i have to do that?

c) who's to say i'm going to get the same quality healthcare that i currently have to opportunity to get should i need to use it? why should i have to sacrifice the nice benefits i get?

If you're making over 250k a year and you have to pay double the taxes then you're still making more than most everyone else in America! And if you're not then you will have a tax cut! That is awesome!

That's only about $5000 which is about 4x what the economic stimulus checks were.

It's probably a lot cheaper to just put them in prison than educate them. Also, everyone knows preventative care is bullshit, that's why rich and middle-class people go to the emergency room....

Oh, wait...
Damn.

I'm not sure it's really a worse fiscal policy than dropping taxes while multiplying government spending and telling everyone it's going to be okay. At this point, we'd probably waste less money if we used $100 bills as toilet paper in government buildings. We're already either paying for a lot of this stuff in hidden costs or wasting enough money to pay for it easily.

You may troll now.

1.) Many people to get more conservative as they grow up (after college years)
2.) A new universal healthcare program is BS. Nearly anyone that wants healthcare, but can't afford it can get it from the government already.
3.) You liberals need to come up with new excuses, etc instead of Bush and Iraq. Those two are not the root cause in all the problems, though you tend to believe/say it is.
4.) Higher taxes weaken the economy, as those who would spend money are no longer able to. Higher taxes often hit the middle class hard (no matter what you liberals say, and what Obama says, I won't believe you when you/he says that he isn't going to raise taxes on the middle class, that's BS),

see, for the past x years europe socialism and communism have tried -equalizing- you with the masses b/c everybody is equal.. amirite? i mean, just b/c you want to do great things, invent technologies or make some $$$ b/c ur smart, you should taxed to all hell b/c you of what you've done. that didn't work out too well did it? why return to those principles

socialism, which is exactly what obama is bringing with 2x tax rates, Universal Free HealthCare, more EQUALIZING "rights".

but just think, you won't have to work a single damn hour to earn that.

Socialism BREEDS lazy societies. Hi Italy. Humans are wired to do things when they have to do it. You think free stuff is gonna make us a stronger society?

but it'll be "free"

you are extremely naive if you think obama can fund his ideas and only touch people's income making over 250k. The math isnt there, although that doesnt matter to most.

I wonder when it became morally acceptable to "take more" from people making more simply bc you feel they dont need it as much. A flat or national sales tax would go along ways to fixing this mindset. That or giving you a vote for every grand you pay in taxes. Im serious

Well, his slogan "Change" is def. on par for what america is going to be like if 1/2 this shit gets implemented.

If you've ever lived in an eastern block country and or worked in a socialist gov. run country, it's gonna feel like home for you.

1) most ppl are gonna make equal shitty wages, no matter what your profession is.
2) but hey! we're all gonna have free shit from the government!
3) oh and less jobs, b/c ur employers are going to get taxed to all hell. that means cut some of the little people to get revenue to pay the rest

simple math. he'll never talk about that though. just "change" and "hope"

and then hope everybody buys the bullshit

"Barack Obama: A-minus. I criticized his previous tax plan, but Obama is at the head of the class with an intelligently designed, $120 billion stimulus plan. He would speed a $250 tax credit to most workers, followed by another $250, triggered automatically, if the economy continues on its sour path. Obama would direct a similar rebate to low- and middle-income seniors, who are also apt to spend and could get checks quickly. One demerit: Obama omits any increase in food stamp benefits, which Moody's estimates would have the greatest bang for the buck, $1.73 for every dollar spent."

Quote :
"John McCain: D-plus. The senator should have his plan sent back with "Did you read this assignment?" scrawled in red ink. There's a respectable argument that stimulus isn't needed, wouldn't be effective and could be counterproductive. But the normally straight-talking McCain doesn't make it. Instead, he proposes permanent tax cuts -- cutting corporate rates, increasing investment breaks, eliminating the alternative minimum tax -- masquerading as a stimulus plan."

to add:

-if clinton would have listened to Ollie, we wouldnt have gone to war
-if the dems would let us drill for OUR oil, then we wouldnt be paying Texa$ for it
-if the dems would let us recover our own coal, then we wouldnt pay Texa$ for that too

So basically, if we could stop polluting the world with liberal policy by incorporating their NIMBY policy, then we woulod be more self-sustainable and bolster a stornger economy that would see more domestic jobs. Also, if the dems stop giving handouts to the ghetto, then maybe blacks would actually get jobs back that the mexicans took over years ago.

If we drilled ANWR we'd get like 10 more years' worth of oil, maybe another 10 out of that reserve they found in South Dakota. I actually think that it's worth doing, but it's far from a permanent solution to the energy crisis.

I think we should drill wherever there is fucking oil. Oil drilling will not lay waste to an area, it will grow back once we are done provided there are not spills.

I've got to disagree on "buying time" on the electric car. The industry has been screwing around on that for around a century, but it seems like as long as we can get by with not doing it, we will. That said, you still have to generate the energy somewhere, and right now that means mostly oil and coal, which is part of the problem. There is more oil and coal, but the cost environmentally of using it is pretty severe (see: coal mines), and old growth forest doesn't just "grow back" kind of like plastic doesn't just "go away."
And also, about that "wasteful spending" thing, it's not just Iraq, even though that is a pretty serious money pit. It's that government activity has absolutely skyrocketed in a lot of areas, along with big-time restructuring that doesn't seem to streamline government as much as add bureaucracy to an already bureaucratically bloated body.
I said to a friend last year I thought we'd end up okay no matter who won if McCain and Obama picked up the nominations, but I don't really care for the way McCain seems to have fallen in line with the rest of the Republican fold over the last few months, because part of what I liked about the guy was that it seemed like he would call bullshit where a lot of people wouldn't, and I don't see that now.
Also, this thread strikes me as a Soap Box candidate. Just saying.

Where does the power come from? How is that power generated? Also, that came out, what, this year for production? The Model T came out in 1905 or so. It's also not really a practical car, it's more like a Ferrari. Besides that, I was thinking "industry" more in the sense of Ford, GM, like that, who have been screwing around, and haven't come up with much yet.

That is a pretty sick car, though. If I had a hundred grand I wasn't going to use for anything else, I'd be all on that thing.

well if wasnt for carter we could reprocess and get that down to about 5% or so of the straight through cycle

also think about this:

a coal fire plant burns one dump truck load per second ~ 50,000 lbs

that same mass of nuclear fuel contains conservatively 100,000x more extractable energy

I'm not saying it's not more efficient. I'm saying that it produces shit that will kill you surer than the output of a Smith and Wesson factory, but in a much more painful and fucked up way.

i tell you right now sure as i sit here ass naked if obama takes that bitch as a VP then he aint gonna be our president

you gon find out real quick how conservative this country is, if he takes a normal white man as VP it will be a lot easier to pull that trigger on inauguration day
