i heard on a science podcast a while ago that some ridiculously high number, like 85-90%, of all modern Asians (from India, China, southeast Asia, etc) have been shown via DNA studies to have a common ancestor from sometime in the 1200AD range. Obviously they have no way to positively identify the common ancestor, but it is believed it is Genghis Khan because the stories of his conquests included him going into towns and villages, killing all the men, then having sex with as many women as possible. So he alone might be the father of modern Asia.

Saw it tonight at the Galaxy. Good stuff. Not what I expected, but still good. When I got home I read where this was the first of a planned trilogy, which makes me feel even better because I want to see him conquer some shit.
