I went the first day; it's pretty awesome IMO. There are lots of little details and hidden things to find throughout the park. Very clever and well thought out so it doesn't feel like an insult to all the bands involved.

It seems like it would be pretty cool.

And might make having to be in Myrtle Beach a bit less torturous.

I don't see why people pay close to $100 a person for parking, admission, food, games, etc...to spend half the day or more just standing in line with some dirty douchebags for a 2 minute long ride.

^^Nah, it's way too big to fit there. The Pavilion lot is just a big grass field right now.

Hard Rock Park is just inland off the main highway (forgot what it is) going into town. It's where the old Waccamaw Outlets was at, and the back of the park actually makes use of some of the buildings.

i would call first to make sure everything is open

the only legitimate rollercoaster they had open was led zeppelin, which was very fun, but the others were more or less kiddie-style. maximum rpm looks interesting whenever it would be running

definitely NOT worth $50 as is right now though...and the led zeppelin ride would be a lot better if you didn't have to stand through a 4-5 minute video in a room every time before you ride (it's set up so there's a big screen in front of you, and the side walls make it feel like you are in a crowd at one of their concerts

there's a small waterpark deal there, about 80% similar to the one at Carowinds with the thing that lets you drop water on the people waiting and has water guns for them to shoot you with...and a kid's thing where a big bucket tips over and drenches below

overall like i said, not worth the $50 or the drive right now, but the LZ ride was fun

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was really annoyed by this

the park isnt going to last i bet. the whole situation between making it a theme park along with a place to have concerts made them not be able to be a great theme park, only average. The only time it would be worth going to is when there is a concert you really want to go to and spend a few hours riding a few rides. Other than that it isnt worth going to and I see failing soon.

I went to Myrtle Beach a few weeks ago, I didn't go in the park, but I did drive by it to check it out.

It looks small from the outside. I would only want to go if there was a concert.

How so?

It definitely is a tad small, but you have to remember this is a brand new from the ground up park. They have long term expansion plans in place.

Too bad Maximum RPM still isn't ready; there's nothing else like that anywhere in the world.

I want to go, but I think I'm going to wait a while until everything is up and running. I just got back from Tampa and Busch Gardens Africa. Shiekra and Montu are wonderful. Kumba was pretty good. Too bad that Gwazi was only running one side while we were there and that Cheetah Chase was down. And Rhino Rally had no water effects so we didn't ride it either. But I did ride Scorpion. It was a new thing for me to go through an inversion with no OTSR.

this is a line/crowd control trick

when the park is crowded and you have to stand in line for more than half an hour, you finally get to the front of the line. but instead of getting on the ride, you watch this video for 5 minutes while they get people who have just finished the ride off the ride. It gives you something to do while you wait...and usually its air conditioned, which helps when its really hot. and it allows the ride operators to get everyone on and off the ride with less chaos.

Its a pretty good idea when you think about it from a park management point of view

Nope. Is the Whootah gang planning to go anywhere anytime soon (besides next weekend, since I'll be at my brother's wedding)?

^^i completely understand why they did it

but it was repetitive and almost deterred me from getting on a 3rd time

they have 2 cars for the roller coaster and i almost felt as if the next car was sitting idle waiting for the music video to get to its cue to let us on

For those of you that have ridden it, what song did they have on for you? For us it was "whole lotta love"

It's always that song. The ride was designed to synch up with the song. I wouldn't be surprised if they change the song after a while, though.

Each of the preshows is different apparently, but you get the same ride regardless. The surviving members of the band picked the song and were involved in the ride design process as well.

if I were in middle school and my parents gave me an extra $50, I might consider going to Hard Rock park

FYI the park now has a NC/SC resident ticket; it's $39 at the gate if you show ID to prove you live here.
