They caved in the 3rd season and added women to cater to an American audience. Jack McKoy was romantically involved with Claire, but after her death he supposedly stopped banging his assistants. Supposedly.

All the assistants are good actresses, but they usually end up being typecast into saying "Jack you're so heartless, won't you think of the children" lines. Of course, the very idea that there are that many attractive female lawyers in the entire world, much less in one district of New York, is utterly absurd.

I find it amazing that a single show can run 22 years, even when none of the original cast remain.
