I need a trailer to haul all my stuff to NC from WA, and I'm gonna need a place to live once I get there until I go to Iraq. I figure I'll only spend 1-1.5 months in Cherry Point before I leave, so a travel trailer should be pretty liveable for that amount of time.

I don't know much about them, though. What should I look for? What features/configurations/etc should I be looking for in terms of something that I'll inhabit for at least a little while, not just a weekend at a time?

all of them are very similar stick and staple construction, so price and the features you need are all that matters. you might consider a toyhauler if you ever think you'll have a bike/4 wheeler to bring along, or it's just be nice to have that door/area for loading stuff.

oh, and make SURE all the systems work fine. also spray/dump water on the roof and see if it leaks anywhere.

yeah, the 97 looks like a decent deal. check for any water damage/leaks on both, especially the older one. these things are a dime a dozen, for your needs don't fret over what to get too much.

[Edited on June 22, 2008 at 1:38 AM. Reason : then you can give it to me to mount on the front half of my trailer. ]

ha, you're gonna turn that big flatbed hauler into a homebuilt toyhauler?

why do you think the '97 is a better deal? only a few years apart in age, look to be similar, but 20-25% difference in price.

We've got a couple that size, I wouldn't pull them with anything less than a 3/4 ton duallie. The old one's usually weigh a metric fuckton too, but if you're just looking for something to cram your stuff in and go, that'll work.

i have a 3/4 ton, but it's not a duallie. it's a '95 Ram 2500 w/ the V10. 113k miles.

hmmm, the furnace doesn't work in that trailer. he says it just is a stuck safety gate of some sort in the ducting that keeps the burner from lighting. still, I have to assume that it will need the furnace totally replaced.

if he'll take a low enough price, I'm still game. I don't really know low I should offer him, though.

Like I said, I will make an offer based on what it costs to completely replace the furnace...then be pleasantly surprised if I don't have to.

Actually, it's really just a question of my own resale...I'm probably not going to need the furnace.

[Edited on July 7, 2008 at 1:25 AM. Reason : oh, and he said he's just been using an electric space heater when he needed it.]
