How does that coincide with your post-war Commie conspiracy, huh? It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. Certainly without any choice. That's the way your hard-core Commie works. 6/17/2008 3:02:25 PM |

Is this thread about mispronunciations or regional pronunciations?
Because I think tornader and turrorist fall under regional. 6/17/2008 3:07:05 PM |

Many of you probably don't even know these--I don't think they even teach them in school anymore:
a pronunciation
Quote : | "Pronounce the article a softly, as in applause, unless you want to use a long a, as in play, to emphasize that what follows is singular. Example: "I did not ask for a [pronounced with emphasis] paper clip. I asked for a whole box.'" |
the: when does it sound like thee?
Quote : | "The definite article should sound like thee before a word that begins with a vowel sound, as in 'the AMA' and 'the NAACP.' When the comes before a consonant sound, as in 'the BBC' and 'the USA,' say "thuh," except when you want to stress the as if it had a few extra e's, as in 'the Bill Gates.'" |

Also, it's not often mispronounced, but it drove me crazy at the time.

I can see how someone would confuse that. People don't have "poobic" hairs.

At the local government meetings I have been to, everyone pronounces "fiscal" like "physical"
They know it's a different word, what it means, and how to spell it, but they still pronounce it wrong for some reason.

Also, I used to write for a newspaper in Clinton, SC. The people who were from Clinton pronounced it as Clinnon, and they said they'd know you were from out of town if you pronounced it as Clinton.
