But I caught a sneak preview tonight. Pretty funny. I'd give it a 7/10.

Worth catching the matinee.

Lots of repeated jokes and Mike Meyers kept going between accents but overall it was enjoyable.

Jessica Alba was amazing, as expected. Jim Gaffigan could have used more lines...could always use more of the Gaff. Knowing that Meyers is a big hockey fan I would have expected him to make sure that the hockey scenes were more legit. In one scene with about 30 seconds of the game remaining they faced off at center ice... when there wasn't a goal scored or even a stoppage from what I remembered.

I mean, if I had the choice I would have watched Get Smart over this too. I think Get Smart will easily be the better movie and I'm pretty sure it will be #1 this weekend, especially considering it's opening on twice as many screens.

Get Smart looks shitty simply because every commercial shows the Rock walking into a door and Steve Carrell throwing the phone. If those are some of the funniest moments then there really is no hope for it.

Love Guru looks shitty simply because I have never laughed during any of its trailers. Not Once. Not even a halfway silent chuckle. Not even almost a mental laugh. not even almost thinking to myself "hmm, that's kinda funny but not really worthy of a laugh. but it is kinda funny nonetheless."

Ha. Didn't Little Nicky come out around that time? I'd place that on the same level as Zohan. I think Dana Carvey's "Master of Disguise" came out around that time frame as well (2002). That fills the old SNL cast member making a stinker void.

1999 was the turning point in movies with 1998 being the golden year of my generation and the blockbuster era
1999 to circa 2003-2004 were probably the worst in movie history, the crazy thing though was many things were bad at teh same time, sport with NBA being the worst, music was forgettable
so its appearantly not limited to the movies

another interesting thing i used to bitch about how bad SNL has gotten but when i look at the great SNL guys like sandler, myers, mcdonald, spade, etc they've all turned to crap or dispeared (mcdonald)
so its appearantly a disease of the times and not limited to a group of people

oh well but its labeled your generation so you will take the blame, luckily i stopped going to movies hardcore a while back ago

Did Meet the Spartans come out this year? I haven't seen it but I would tag that as the worst movie of the year if so.


I think the movies like that are contributing way too much these days. Crap like Epic Movie, Superhero Movie, Date Movie, and the previously mentioned Meet the Spartans makes way too much money at the box office.

I wasn't expecting a lot from this movie, and thats exactly what I thought of it when I saw it.

To me Mike Myers looks like he tries too hard, especially with visual and corny jokes.
