I need to find out the IP address of my cable box. I thought there was a sequence of buttons or a channel where I could view this stuff...help? Thanks! 6/18/2008 11:16:19 PM |

999 doesn't work And i have no idea what 88 of the broadcast means and I don't know how ip addresses work, but i'm pretty sure my cable box has a different ip address than my computer so i don't think the website would work 6/18/2008 11:23:20 PM |

is your cable box plugged into your network?
if not, the only ip it should have is the HFC one from the headend
and you really can't do anything with that
p.s. if you don't know what ip addresses are, you probably don't have the knowledge to do anything useful with the information to start with] 6/18/2008 11:24:59 PM |

you don't want the ip address
you want the mac address.
either that or twc's id number off of the back.
depends on which model box you have - if you have a cablecard, you'll probably need to give the info off the cablecard. if not, there should be a sticker on the back with a long number on it as well as a long string of hex.
if the rep seriously asked you to give them the ip of the box, they're fucking retarded.
also, i have no clue how twc's provisioning/billing systems work, but if it's anything like charter, a mac/box id has to be associated with a current billing account to be provisioned... i.e. your box can't get service unless you're paying for said service. they had too many reps doing what your rep is supposedly doing.]6/19/2008 12:09:13 AM |
