If so which one? Like it?
I've used a older Braun Foil before, and it worked ok but I'm curious about some of the newer models, especially the rotary ones.
This one looks cool...http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000050FDQ] 6/19/2008 9:24:09 AM |

i use the norelco quadraction and it works well. the neck places are hard to get sometimes, but if i want a "perfect" shave then i'll get out the straight razor 6/19/2008 9:43:39 AM |

you know i saved a LOT of money switching over to a straight safety razer, the blades are a lot less expensive, last forever, and the gives me the closest shave out of all the razers i've tried, including electric.

I am on my second Remington.
This time its a R-650s Titanium. I like it because you can wash out the head. My last one, you couldn't do that. Also, figure on a new head every year or so. You can get most replacements at Walmart or Target for about $30-$40.
I like using the electric razor because I can keep it in my truck and it cuts down on my morning routine time.
However, I feel like I don't get as close a shave with an electric as I do with a good 'ole Mach 3, so every once-in-a-while, I shave with that. 6/19/2008 10:57:40 AM |

i think i'd like to try a straight edge...i've used the mach3, quattro, and fusion, and NONE of them leave me smooth, and they sometimes irritate my skin
my one attempt at using an electric (a $90 norelco) left my skin so irritated that i had to put aloe on it to cool it off 6/19/2008 11:19:29 AM |

i only use it for my chin and around the mouth tho, since i can get closer there than with a razor
otherwise....

The only thing electric I have is a beard trimmer...but the only facial hair I have is slight sideburns and a soul patch.
Well, I do cut back the pubic hair on account of I got one of those jack-in-the-box peckers that, on a cold day, looks like a button on a fur coat (hard, it's like 6 or 7 times its limp size; WTF?!!), and I hate it gettin' wadded up in all that hair.
But for my face? Electric SUCKS. I've been using one of those Mach 5 jobs as of late, and damn if I don't think it's worth the money. Best shave I've had in a long time, and the cartridges don't wear out so fast. 6/19/2008 1:56:08 PM |

Philips Norelco T980 Turbo Vacuum Trimmer
Lol, I just have steady incoming facial hair and like to keep it looking nice. That thing has a vacuum on it so I don't have to clean up the bathroom counter constantly, and it cuts extremely nice looking and consistent based on the length setting you want.
Couldn't be happier with this thing. 6/25/2008 9:31:10 AM |

Used to use a Braun Activator since it was cheaper than buying refills on my old Gilette Sensor. Now that I get razors for free (Rite Aid rebates and CVS ExtraCare Bucks FTW) I rarely use it.

I prefer to brush out the head and then spray it with cleaner. I believe remington produces a spray cleaner/lube that is safe for electric razors. It works well.7/1/2008 3:14:26 AM |

I keep going back and forth on what Merkur I want. I have a few months to decide though since I'm growing a beard for St. Baldricks.
No matter what razor you use, the best advice I ever got was letting my beard grow out a tad to see exactly the direction of hair growth, especially on the neck. Once you learn to shave "with the grain" it pretty much completely eliminates razor burn and in-growns on the neck. The 3rd video in the playlist above talks about it. I had never noticed that the lower portion of my neck had hair growing upwards and that there is a bit of a "part" in the beard almost coming straight down from the left side of my mouth and hair on each side grows outwards to the ear on that side... if that makes any sense. In other words, if all you ever do is shave straight down, or just straight up on your neck, then you can probably further reduce shaving irritation and get a closer shave.
Plus, $30 is about where decent razors start. A good shaving kit can easily run $200. 12/3/2008 1:13:06 AM |
