public transportation makes me feel bad for black people in that "damn what did the whites do that make 95 percent of the passangers of the cat bus black" type of way

dont worry

if raleigh was set up more conducive to public transportation and had a better system it wouldnt be that way.

oh i was wondering why...i definitely dont think its racist to wonder how the fuck 9/10 people on the cat are black when blacks are only like 30% of the population at best in raleigh

I was on the TTA last week going to Cary and there was a guy from Denver who commented on the crappiness of the public transportation out here, stating that Denver is as big as the Raleigh, Cary, Durham, and Chapel Hill's service area combined.

They also enjoy 24 hour service, including buses that serve every 15 minutes from 8 AM - 10 PM, 30 minutes from 10 PM - 2 AM, and 60 minutes from 2 AM - 8 AM.

Raleigh would be balla if we had that or a subway.

^^I am in Denver and can vouch for that. Except that it runs every 15 minutes from 6-8AM for rush hour. I take the bus to work on snow days in the winter have taken it a lot recently. It picks up 1/4 mile from my house and drops off 1/4 mile from work. I have probably ridden the bus 200 times and it has never once been more than 5 minutes late, even in the snow. There is also a light rail system that starts a mile from my house and goes downtown, with stops at Invesco, Coors Field, and the Pepsi Center. With the DNC next month, the public transportation will be highly publicized.

our mass transit in the US as a whole sucks donkey balls, and the RDU area (raleigh/cary/rtp/durham/ch) is so sprawling that mass transit (overall) is less feasible...LESS feasible, not impossible, though

I would love

love

LOVE ♥

it if raleigh had some decent public transit.
In high school, it took me over two hours to get home from school (millbrook) to my parents' place (near kent and western)...including a 45 minute wait at peace and glenwood for the #12

This is to dnl's statements above

could it just be that people have made bad decisions in their lived? Decisions that have caused them not to be able to get/afford insurance, or get/afford a car?

there just isnt the density to make it viable

hell atlanta has a heavy rail transportation system with just two lines and its only good for getting to the airport

there is so much sprawl down here that more marta lines will never be economically feasible

i live 8 miles from GT, it is faster to drive with all the traffic delays than it is to get on a bus to the Lindbergh station, take the marta to midtown, and then get on the tech trolley to get to my office...public transportation is a 2 hour trip one way

hell, im still inside the perimeter

we will all be dead before raleigh has the density to support a full subway system

I rode the bus yesterday. Capital #1 was packed, with myself and at least 15 others having to ride from 440 to moore square standing up.

I love Greenville's taxicabs. Half the companies just charge a flat rate of either $6 or $8, to anywhere in the city limits.

I've got to take a TTA bus from Durham to Raleigh this year and I am not looking forward to it. I got too used to Philly's public transportation system.

You done messed up with this thread now, dnl--schmoe doesn't take kindly to anyone criticizing his beloved public transportation. No way, no how.

http://www.raleighnc.gov/portal/server.pt/gateway/PTARGS_0_2_114435_0_0_18/CAT_11_In.pdf

supposed to be at moore square at 8:25

http://www.raleighnc.gov/portal/server.pt/gateway/PTARGS_0_2_114455_0_0_18/CAT_02_Out.pdf

supposed to leave moore square at 8:30

in a perfect world, that would be true

I rode it to get home from school Salisbury/wilmington street to ridge road/lake boone

it usually took 30-45 minutes an only once or twice was more than 10-15 minutes late

just bring a cd/mp3 player and you're fine

may be too bumpy to read
