Hi guys

I am wanting to buy a laptop for my mom who wants a laptop but never had one. Her birthday is on July 10th and I want to give her a laptop. Are there any good deals going on currently on laptops which are not designed for gamers? She will just use it to check e mail and use instant messenger.

Also, most computers now have only Vista OS and I heard Vista makes your computer slow using up 1gb of memory. Is there anyway I can put XP home edition without messing up the hardware? I was told XP on newer laptops will mess up hardware but I am not sure. Thanks in advance.
