I figured it was about time to start up the new season to get offseason transfers and injury talks going. Also to discuss which players did well during the Euros and may get more illustrious moves afterwards(ahem Russian players). The first game this year will be the Charity Shield placing EPL winners Man Utd vs FA Cup winners Portsmouth. The first games of the season are as follow:

In my ongoing effort to get more into soccer, I'm going to become a fan of an EPL team.

I don't want to just hop on a bandwagon (ManU or Chelsea) or a pick a team that sucks, so any suggestions for a good team to pull for?

Everton. pull for our american goalkeeper Tim Howard and his team.

some people on this site like to root for Fulham too because of a strong american contingent, but they barely stayed in the EPL last season, so they might not be great this season

Newcastle. They are like NC State. They never win anything or relevance.

I'm a West Ham fan... They have an American...

haha yea if you want to be disappointed every season pull for newcastle...but i think nc state is enough nc state for anybody

i believe everton finished 5th last season, behind the big 4...if not 5th, then it was 6th, but i seem to remember aston villa finishing 6th

...on that note, Aston Villa is a good team to pull for too, they have a bright offensive future ahead of them unless they lose agbonlahor and young in transfer moves.

Probably Italy or Spain; Arsenal at least has expressed interest.

Keep me posted on the fantasy epl. I'd be interested in joining if you get it together.

Oh yeah, if you are looking for a team to support...Liverpool is the way to go. YNWA

(Im a liverpool fan)

I would love if the spurs dropped 15 on Crouch and Yossi -- that way we can move on David Silva

It looks like Alonso will sell for 15 to Juve -- seal the deal on Barry

I think Arshavin will end up at Barca...but not for 20 like DailyMail suggests. He went MIA tonight

the spurs are going after benayoun and crouch? they would have to be retarded to buy them. They already have 3 starting strikers (keane, bent, berbatov) and about 200 good midfielders (dos santos, jenas, lennon, huddlestone, malbranque.) They need to buy good players on defense for once.

It has be to difficult to pull for a team outside of the big 4 knowing good and damn well entering the season the best you can do is 5th, possibly steal the Carling Cup, and get a UEFA Cup spot for 09-10. I'm kinda glad I don't really have a team and can watch from an objective point of view. I didn't start following the EPL at all until Shevchenko moved over from Milan, but he's managed to make me despise Chelsea within that period of time.

Muffin: All right, don't anybody move. There's been a murder.

Mother: A murder?

Muffin: No, no, not a murder...no, what's like a murder only begins with B?

Son: Birmingham.

Muffin: No ... no ... no ... no ... no...

Doctor: Burnley?

Muffin: Burnley - that's right! Burnley in Lancashire. There's been a Burnley.

Son: Burglary.

Muffin: Burglary. Yes, good man. Burglary - that's it, of course. There's been a burglary.

So Burnley was going to play the Railhawks first team, but their schedule was full, so the U-23 team is playing them instead.

Here is a photo of the holder my dad helped me make for my 1930 FIFA World Cup collectors medals. Both medals are the same, so it's displaying a different side on each. The one on the right is a picture of the stadium and the one on the left says "A.U. DE F, 1ER CAMPEONATO MUNDIAL DE FOOTBALL MONTEVIDEO 1930." The holder is made out of black walnut wood and I went to Things Remembered at Cary Town Center to have that engraving done at the bottom. It's a stick on that says "1930 FIFA World Cup."

Arshavin is valued at 24 million Euros.

My transfer predictions:

Adebayor is goin to Milan (bet on it)

Drogba is going back to Olympique Marseille

Berbatov is goin nowhere

Klaas Jan Huntelaar is coming to Old Trafford

Lampard to Inter

Hleb to Barca (good as gone already)

CR7 - nowhere

Arshavin to Chelsea

Ronaldinho ends up at Manchester City, since Milan cant afford him and Drogba

Gareth Barry will get frozen out at Villa, but you wont see him at Liverpool

Bentley to Spurs

Obefemi Martins to Arsenal as soon as Adebayor's gone
