flame away, but i could give a flying fuck about the cutscenes.

the only single cutscene i can ever even remember, and i've beaten both games, is the one at the end of d1 where he puts the horn in his head.

as soon as the cutscenes come up, i almost instantly skip them

as an unrelated side note, i would say the barb will be the most popular class by far

I typically end up skipping cutscenes in blizzard games because I'm playing with people who have already seen the shit, but ill definitely be watching all in diablo the first go round

There is a difference between cutscenes and cinematics.

You're actually wasting part of the price of admission to the game if you skip these cinematics. It would be like skipping half the cool fight scenes when you go to see the avengers

agreed. and the only time this wasn't true were the horribly placed cinematics in dragon soul in wow.

Really, unless you are hideo kojima i don't really care, but i typically give blizzard a chance (other than wow obviously)

what the fuck is the difference? As far as i can remember the only WoW cutscene or cinematic is when you make a character or like when expansions come out maybe. Are you considering cutscenes to be like the shit during bosses in end game stuff?

I havent played WoW in years so i don't think i know/remember dragon soul is

Well they both tell part of the story, but cutscenes are done completely in game. They are limited by the technology of the game engine's graphical, audio, etc abilities. They run in real time.

Cinematics are fully rendered movies. They have no limits (aside from the modelling/animation abilities of the company) and can fully realize the world and characters and tell a story with them. They are pre-rendered and extremely high quality. They are generally rewards for beating the game or completing an 'Act'.

If you watch the D3 commercials, those are glimpses of the cinematics that will be in the game.

Blizzards cinematic team is the top in the industry and is easily on a pixar/dreamworks level. There is a reason they include a blu-ray of their cinematics in their CEs. They are actually moving into the full length feature domain with their IPs.

Not caring about the story is obviously a personal choice; and skipping in game cut-scenes to continue with the action is understandable. But skipping these cinematics is really doing yourself a disservice IMO and you're missing part of the experience you paid for.

I haven't played a computer game since quitting WoW 3-4ish years ago but I want to play this (I actually forgot I posted back on page 1 itt). Unfortunately, the only home computers I have now are a 5 year old laptop, a 6 year old laptop, and a 2 year old desktop (with no dedicated video card). I'm hoping the desktop can handle it decently.

You can install the game at 12:01am PDT on Monday the 14th.

If you care about spoilers id stay away from the internet that day since dataminers will be on that shit like white on rice.

If you're not buying the collector's edition there's no reason to get it in a store.

1)All of the margin goes to the developer.
2)You'll be able to play the instant it goes on sale.

Not to go off on a tangent, but How To Train Your Dragon is as good as anything Pixar has come up with.

Blizzard can easily match the quality of pixar/dreamworks as far as art, animation, etc.

Story telling I would not put them that high, however.

^ My comment was per the actual animation quality and techniques (not story telling).
I would certainly argue that as far as "art, animation, etc" are concerned, Pixar is on a completely different playing field.

When comparing Pixar's efforts in water/wetness effects, number of objects, clothing, hair, lighting/reflection/refraction (remember the balloons from UP?) to similar efforts from Blizzard, Blizzard looks like a start-up.

Don't get me wrong, a lot of what Blizzard does is great, but you can't compare it to the tools Pixar has under it's belt. I guess Blizzard's stuff is more realistic and grittier if that's what you meant.

3AM EST is when the servers go live

Blizzard announced today that if you were in the closed Beta test, Blizzard is giving you a Feat of Strength achievement and a unique sigil for your banner in-game.

I wonder how long it would take blizzard to make a feature length film as opposed to a few 90 second clips.

Besides you watch cinematics once (if that) and skip them thereafter. In fact I'd wager unskippable cinematics would be in most people's top 5 things they hate the most about video games.

Blizzard already is working towards feature length films. They purchased the rights to Diablo as a movie title a while ago and I believe they actually have nailed down a director for a WoW movie.

I watch cinematics a lot; but taking away the ability to skip them would be retarded.

No idea about BB, but I wouldn't go to a midnight release unless you already have a Collector's reserved. You can buy a digital copy online now, and Blizz will let you DL day 1 patch early Monday, so all you would need to do is log in at 3am EST to start playing.

Downloading is how I've done Cataclysm and SWTOR, and will likely do the same for Diablo III. I just don't want to have to store/pack/move anymore game boxes...
