Professor Splash' Breaks Dive Record

FEDERAL HEIGHTS, Colo. (CBS4) ? Known as "Professor Splash," Colorado native Darren Taylor broke his own Guinness World Record for highest shallow water dive on Thursday at Hyland Hills Water World in Colorado.

Taylor dove from 35 feet, 4 inches into a kiddie pool filled with 12 inches of iced water.

"The savior on this dive is to move as much water as I can for a buffer effect," he said.

Taylor has been a professional high diver for 25 years and previously set records in Italy, Spain, Japan and Germany.

"It's a lifelong training process to get this dive to go down just right." he said.

The high dive was part of the "ribbon splashing" to open "The Big Top," a family-oriented, circus-themed area at Hyland Hills Water World. Taylor insisted this event was his final high dive."

That's not so much a dive, as a really painful belly flop.

OK, not to knock this guy, he's pretty ballsy, but it looks like he's got a cushion under the pool. So.

if he hadn't had the cushion under it, i am pretty sure he would have died.

I'm surprised there was no disclaimer.

^^ right, but isn't that the equivalent to a stunt man jumping off of a building into a cushion?

It isn't as if he survived because he could manipulate the water, he survived because of the cushion.

The only reason I clicked to watch was because I thought it was going to be a regular concrete pool floor. Definately wanted to see some guts flying.

Geoffrey Rush made that movie at least as much as Johnny Depp did, maybe more, and he definitely had the harder part to play.
