because this needs a thread for the general public, not just the nerds in section 8

Quote :
"This is nothing at all like anything Pixar has attempted before. I would say that it’s Brad Bird good, but really, this is even better than that. Wall-E is in a class by itself, a nearly indescribable masterpiece of epic proportions that will, regardless of commercial success, be regarded in the film community as one of the very best films in the history of animation. This will no doubt be spoken of in the future alongside such works as Fantastic Planet and Fantasia. It is arguably the best thing Disney has ever had their name on and clearly the best with the name Pixar. It will take the Academy Award for best animated next year without anything resembling a fight and will no doubt be on almost every Top Ten list you read at the end of the year."

Good Lord, I wouldn't write a review that good about anything, up to and including receiving oral sex.

^^ Massawyrm from AICN

The Metacritic rating is a 92, which is the second highest of the year (after 4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days), and it's got a 97 on RT.

Zing!

subtitled movies suck

i don't watch any foreign films

except french and spanish

because i speak those

hence no subtitles

but there's no dialogue in wall-e for the first hour

so no subtitles either

i saw it last night, it was incredible. nothing like any other pixar movie.

it's really not even geared towards kids. there's a lot of environmental propaganda bullshit, but it's a fantastic movie. saw it in dlp at northhills. def. worth $10.

this movie was fucking outstanding. i agree with the person above, completely unlike anything else pixar has done. there is few lines of dialogue and the movie is extremely poetic.

The kids are EXACTLY who that propaganda is for. They wanna get their shit in the minds of kids as young as they can.

if you think this is propaganda, you haven't seen happy feet

happy feet is a sensationalist piece of garbage that actually does have al gore in it in live action...it's not thoughtful, it's just loud

i won't say there's not a message of, "hey, check out what could happen" in wall-e, because of course there is, but it's part of a greater message that no one in their right mind could possibly take issue with: take a look around. take a look at the stars, at books, at the girl down the street, and care about them.

they made a fucking cgi robot movie about the little tramp for god's sake
