go to the mile high bridge and then take a hike up grandfather's mountain and eat lunch up there
take a drive down the blue ridge parkway...but i think that is better to do in the fall/spring
find the local caves/caverns and go check them out
find a Harrah's and gamble a little

i just got back from around sparta. went fishing, shooting, boating, and relaxing. worked around the grandparent's house some.

it's easy to find stuff to do in the mountains. check out the odd little stores/antique places that are all over the place.

You can go to Todd, NC for tubing and kayaking. Its 15 minutes from Boone.

Go to Montana/Wyoming. See some REAL mountains!

I just got back from there. NC has nothing on Glacier National Park!11

oh yeah - enjoy the weather while you can.
I was in/around Boone last weekend for a bike ride - i can't get enough of the summer mountain weather, compared to raleigh..... low-mid 80's is generally the high, occasionally gets into upper 80s, low humidity, always a nice breeze. just be glad you're up there and not in this hellacious heat down the mountain
