i am independent. except for the 2 months i'm shacking with the rents this summer (free food ftw???).

i don't really know if i like the whole little miss independent thing. but some of my friends are doing it. some aren't. and yes, some are married. but luckily i don't have any friends living with the parentals on a permanent basis so that is good. i'm the one that comes closest to that. but this is the last time that will happen. first time i've lived with them in 6 years. i'm not really feeling the whole adult child thing. but free food is nice and saves a surprising amount of $$$.

the weirdest part is when you know both the guy and girl getting married

and afterwards when they start referring to each other as husband and wife

that takes a while to get used to

like my friend Gary will be at my place ; he just got married in March

and his wife calls my house like "Is my husband there ?"

and you have to think for a moment to realize who she's talking about

I graduated in May. I'm living here in Raleigh, away from home. I have a girlfriend but don't plan on getting married until she graduates ECU and gets a job up here or nearby. I just got off my parents cell phone plan this weekend, and I got to take them my first rent check when I go home for the 4th.

most of my friends are either married, engaged, pregnant, already have kids, or some combination of those. I even have a handful of friends who are already divorced.

All the guys I know that got married were all "OMG DUDE I"M GETTING MARRIED PLZ KIDNAP ME AT TEH WEDDING I CAN"T BELIEVE I"M DOING THIS" and now they're all like "dude, yeah sorry I can go scuba diving with you, me and wife are going to spend the day looking at floor samples at Home Depot." knowing good and damn well they ain't getting no new floor.

45% knocked up or married
45% living with parents
10% living not at home and not married or kids

I would expect the ratio to be more like
20% knocked up or married
70% living not at home and not married or kids
10% living with the rents

i know there are more recent articles about this - on the radio station that my wife listens to they asked the question "what is the thing that 60%(we can't remember the exact # but think that was it) of women do after graduation" and the answer was move back home with their parents

my cat is fat and lazy and never cleans. and she does make messes. like the time she opened a bag of flour and dragged it around the apt. that was pretty sweet. i had to go behind her and clean it all up ofcourse.

haha that is definitely true. don't have to take her out for walks. but i don't want to be a crazy cat lady. sometimes i'm lonely and i'm like "hmm i should get another pet" and then i'm like "but i don't have time for a dog and fish and hamsters are boring. o i kno...a CAT"

i had a pet snail when i was younger named tootsie roll

s/he wasn't that cool as i found him/her in the wild. she was small...like as small as a dime. eventually i set her free in the woods but then i cried and tried to find her and couldn't
