So hypothetically of course, this girl dates a guy for about 4 months. During that time she isn't treated exactly the best and has an inclination that he has the hots for one of his friends (they'd been friends for years) which he denies, but she breaks up with him. Even though the breakup had more to do with the way she was treated, he tells his crush that the breakup was all because that girl thought he had the hots for the crush. They date again about 6 months later and get very serious. One day she accidently stumbles upon a letter he wrote during their "off time" disclosing his deep feelings for his friend and asking her out (she said no), and also learns through another avenue that he's liked his friend for quite a while. She's hurt and discusses this with him. He denies any romantic feelings anymore for his friend even though they still hang out regularly. Girl tries to be cool and trusts her boyfriend, but has stated that if he wants to hang out with the girl he liked that's ok---but she's uncomfortable around that girl and doesn't want to have to hang out with her too. This is causing much tension. Boyfriend thinks that girlfriend should be fine with all of them hanging out....girlfriend is trying to be nice and allow him to hang out with his old crush, but doesn't want to hang out with them. the truth is, you are both right. you can't fault him for wanting to hang out with a girl that he has been friends with for years. and he can't fault you for being jealous at the fact that he had a crush on her.
tough situation
Now, the question is. If she gave him the chance to bone her behind your back, would he do it?

The issue isn't that he asked the girl out, or that they are still friends. The major issue is that the friend is under the assumption that the whole previous break-up was all about her. Girlfriend knows you can't just "turn off" liking someone and thinks he may still like his friend, even though she knows he's never follow through with it. This makes current girlfriend uncomfortable. Because she's uncomfortable she'd just rather avoid the situation of having to be around the crush. Boyfriend is irate that girlfriend can't just deal with it and hang out with him and his former crush. 6/30/2008 11:34:08 AM |

I avoid drama whenever possible. Life's too short, if it takes that much work and figuring then drop them all and find new friends.
