..., my thoughts were short my hair was long
Caught somewhere between a boy and man
She was seventeen and she was far from in-between
It was summertime in Northern Michigan
Ahh Ahh Ahh
Ahh Ahh Ahh

Splashing through the sand bar
Talking by the campfire
It's the simple things in life, like when and where
We didn't have no internet
But man I never will forget
The way the moonlight shined upon her hair

[Chorus:]
And we were trying different things
We were smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song
Sipping whiskey out the bottle, not thinking 'bout tomorrow
Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long
Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long

Catching Walleye from the dock
Watching the waves roll off the rocks
She'll forever hold a spot inside my soul
We'd blister in the sun
We couldn't wait for night to come
To hit that sand and play some rock and roll

While we were trying different things
And we were smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song
Sipping whiskey out the bottle, not thinking 'bout tomorrow
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long

Now nothing seems as strange as when the leaves began to change
Or how we thought those days would never end
Sometimes I'll hear that song and I'll start to sing along
And think man I'd love to see that girl again

[Repeat Chorus x2]

Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long

No lie...
I was in a bar last weekend and the DJ said that was the new soundtrack for the bar. Then everyone was all like "YEAHHHHHHH" "WOOOOOHHHHH.
I kid you not.

actually, I like the song.

and I'm sure he gave credit for the songs that he sampled. Otherwise he'd get sued.

Its such a piece of commercialized MTV bullshit, that Im surprised Coke or Pepsi didnt pay the record company to have a reference to their respective drinks place in the lyrics.

wow, I really feel bad for ya'll, you just can sit back, close your eyes and enjoy the beat. you gotta be all elitist about shit.

even if its not a stroke of genius, its still something nice to kick back and listen to while drinkin a beer on a sunny afternoon.

There was a thread about this with some elitist asshole doing a blog video about it where he paused it every few words to bitch about something else. It was annoying, but kinda made me not like the song either. I guess it was just because he drew so much attention to parts of it.

"we didn't have no internet, but man I never will forget"

is quite possibly the worst lyric since

"I'm serious as cancer when I say that rhythm is a dancer"

Warren Zevon

It's not the same lyrics but it's the exact same music.

Kid Rock is terrible. I got so mad at my gf when she said she liked this song.
