I work at Food Lion too, and yes you can buy any kind of FOOD item on EBT.

And it really irritates me to no end too seeing people come in there and fill their carts with instant meals: frozen pizza, hamburger helper (maybe), stouffers, kids cuisine, little debbie, ice cream, chips, sugary snacks and not a single piece of fresh fruit or fresh meat to be found! It that don't scream "I'm so lazy that not only will I not work, but I aint fixing my children a decent meal either", then I don't know what does!

yes classic. At food lion last month i was in line behind a "darker complexion" woman who was buying a few groceries with her EBT; also in the cart were 6 40's and a case of miller high life. I am glad uncle sam assists our poor so they can afford plenty of booze!

ahh yeah i claimed myself an independent. i pretty much paid for everything myself except medical insurance. a buddy of mine was in a similar situation and never claimed himself independent which would have given him $1000's through the years. sucks b.c his parents did not pay for shit for him. daddy's gettin xtra tax refunds at the expense of his son eating ramen noodles

if you're a student you have to work 20 hrs a week (no under the table) or do a work study job to be eligible for food stamps (thats if you don't have a kid)

i had a friend (female) who tried to get food stamps.. she was going to school, and working part time (trying to better herself) and was denied food stamps. she was told it was because she didn't have a kid. so she got her brother to apply, and he didn't have a job or a kid, and wasn't going to school and got them. wtf?!

so i guess generally people that use food stamps piss me off, and people that really need them can't get them. i hate the system.

my mom always claimed me, and i would file for independent to see how much i would get, then officially file dependent. when the returns came my mom would get more for claiming me than i would have gotten if i filed by myself, so she would give me the difference for what i would have gotten if i had filed independent. that way we would both win.
