Viewtiful Joe looks a lot like Quick Man.

And I doubt it will be as good as Mega Man 2. Not to say it won't be a good game, it's just that Mega Man 2 has stood out as the best Mega Man game for a while so it is a big shadow to fill. I'm really hoping that it will have that awesome 8-bit music from the original Mega Man games too... that music was really good.

I would've preferred a high-res 2-D Mega Man to this. They're trying to surpass Mega Man 2? Well good luck with that. They must realize a large percentage of gamers consider some classic games from the NES era basically unbeatable in terms of quality. No matter how catchy the tunes or cool the bosses, it'll never measure up.

Mega Man 2 is a piece of nostalgia for me. It's gameplay has been surpassed several times over in subsequent Mega Man games, even though those only made incremental changes. I doubt there's anything they can do to change things up that they didn't try with Mega Man 3-8.

All that aside, I'll pick this up on day one provided it's reasonably priced.

Not too much considering it's gonna be on XBLA and Wii Ware.

Wouldn't think anymore than 800 ms points.

The Bosses (maybe a spoiler to some):

Quote :
"
Galaxy Man: level consists of portals that fling Mega Man all around the level, maintaining his momentum with each fling (a lot like Portal, actually), plus enemies that divide into multiple copies of themselves.

Plug Man: home to the required "disappearing block" puzzle

Hornet Man: bees, lots of bees

Jewel Man: there are swings here that you have to move with built-up momentum - we had to try it several times before we could make the jumps

Magma Man: lava and plenty of one-hit-kill beams

Concrete Man: the Guts Man of Mega Man 9

Tornado Man: scourge of the Midwest has one of the hardest levels with tons of mid-air leaps and spinning platforms

Splash Woman: yes, a woman robot master. Level features a hovering bubble puzzle we saw in Mega Man 5. One of the masters designed by Inafune himself."

So I got bored and decided to write up a personal retrospect of each of the titles.

<blog>

Mega Man: Didn't get to play it until my BBSing days. By that time I found it to be way harder than any of the others. Using save state was the only way I could beat that game.

Mega Man 2: I remember paying for this with my allowance. Worth every penny. The music was fantastic. Anyone ever heard the minibosses cover?

Mega Man 3: Traded part 2 with someone who had this and beat it over the course of a month. Loved the ability to slide and thought Rush was a really cool addition. I still always destroy Hard Man first.

Mega Man 4: Got this one for xmas. This is my favorite Mega Man of the series. The intro still gets me fired up. I really hope this version of the Mega Buster is included in part 9.

Mega Man 5: Got this one for my birthday. Liked Gravity Man's stage and liked the fact that you could mute the "charging" of the buster if you got hit. Never really cared for Beat.

Mega Man 6: This one was sorta meh. By this time I had put down the NES and started playing the Genesis. Came back to it around the same time I came back to part 1.

Mega Man 7: I remember this taking way too long getting released. By the time it came out I was a Genesis fanboy and didn't get the opportunity to play this until after part 8.

Mega Man 8: One of the weakest titles of the series (part 6 being second.) Mega Man was voiced by a girl, Dr. Light sounded like Elmer Fudd, Aqua Man was a homo (had the rainbow intro to prove it) and Frost Man was a tard. I would still like to play the Sega Saturn version of this one day tho.

As I've said previously if they can bring out the best parts of 2, 3 and 4 I will have no complaints. Anyways, just my thoughts on the series. I'm really surprised Airbag hasn't dropped by to share his thoughts on this new release.

This will more than likely sell enough to be worth it. It'll probably spawn a million sequels.

We had Mega Man on NES. Now Mega Man 9 on the Wii.

Will we see Mega Man 22? We can only hope.

I remember playing this game all the damn time - Mega Man 2 that is.

I will jump on this - you know - that's really what my Wii has turned into anyway. A NES with a wireless remote. I have spent more time playing Zelda, Mario and so on rather than any of the Wii games.
