Throw out 75% of your stuff. You'll thank me on this one.

I think I'm gonna do some oriental/arabic stuff when I save up enough. I definately want to get a blow up of that calligraphy tiger they had on display at the Museum of Art back a few years ago.

And Amsel Adams. And E.O. Hoppe. And lots of plants. Oh fuck who am I kidding, I can't afford Starbucks.

-No matter how organized you start out packing, you're always going to end up throwing random shit in random boxes as you get closer to your move date. But try to stay as organized as possible....it reduces the amount of lost items, and helps with unpacking

-Obviously, live in the best neighborhood that you can afford. Living in a shitty neighborhood might save you on rent, but it fucking SUCKS to get robbed

-Recruit as much help as possible when moving. Every extra person you have helping you move knocks about 1 hour off of the total time it takes.

-Move on the weekend if possible, obviously

-Be careful what you sign in terms of a lease. Also, become very familiar with renter's rights. Landlords and apartment complexes often see college kids as a quick buck. They'll rape you if they can.

-Get your utilities tranfered/cut on?

other than that, what do you want to know?

good advice

i'm getting a bunch of my friends to help move in the morning then probably taking them out for a nice dinner at night

my 'rents are coming to help because I have furniture in storage at home (5 hrs away), in VA (3 hrs) and some in Charlotte so they are just making a big round trip with all my shit then taking the left over back home and storing it all in one place

i'm pretty sure i wont have trouble finding help if they know my parents will take them to Kanki for dinner

oh yeah....

call Allstate or some other company and get renter's insurance
it's MAYBE $175 a year
and if anything happens, you're covered

Donate your old shit and get a tax deduction. Way better than throwing it out.
