Ok so here is my situation. For the past couple of weeks my car has decided not to start every once in a while and now it just won't start at all. When I stick the key in the ignition and turn it one click all the engine/dashboard lights come on like it always has. But when I turn it to start the engine all I here is a faint clicking noise. I tried to jump the battery this morning but that's not the issue because it still won't start and we tested the battery which defenitely has enough charge to start. I have been told by multiple people that there is a problem with the starter and the contact for the celluloid. I need to get it to a shop but obviously I can't without getting it towed. Would anybody be willing to do a diagnostic house call (I would be happy to compensate)? 7/13/2008 11:11:49 AM |

find the starter and tap the side of it pretty good with a hammer. if the starter is the problem, tapping it will unstick the solenoid so it will turn over. 7/13/2008 12:12:59 PM |

haha, yeah, I beat the ol' turbomiata's starter with a wrench for at LEAST a month, probably more. I had my YJ at the same time (and maybe the S2000, too), so if it finally died for good, I could always drive another vehicle.
I was living in the barracks in Quantico working a ridiculous schedule, and the starter on a Miata is a PAIN IN THE ASS to replace. It's like they worked hard to find the worst possible place they could mount it (and all of my IC piping and stuff didn't make things any more convenient).7/15/2008 3:28:13 AM |
