yea i know there's some other posts about these classes but not specifically about this... from other people's experience, would it be stupid to take zo421 without any classes in anatomy etc at state? im signed up for zo250 which i heard is harder than zo421. the instructor is parks btw which i think did bio181/183 and i heard that person was good for bio.
thanks 7/13/2008 12:51:44 PM |

You don't need anatomy to take that class unless its required. It may help, but its not needed. Personally, I hated Parks' class. She teaches like she's a dumb valley girl and its horrible to listen to every day, and she couldn't figure out how to post her power points online so she just printed them out 6/page and handed them out in class. Thats nice and all except there is a lot of important info on them that I'd rather not pop my eyeballs out to read. She seemed like a nice enough person though...people like her I think. I just didn't like her class. That was spring of 06 too so take it fwiw. 7/17/2008 9:36:21 AM |

I took ZO421 with only Bio181/183 and I found it to be really hard. I sure hope you are good at pure memorization, and a LOT of it at that. But its pretty straight forward....you'll have very detailed tests in both lecture and very very detailed practicals in lab.....but if you learn all the muscles, bones, etc. you'll be fine...but I just didn't have the patience or time to do that. 7/17/2008 10:48:57 AM |

I don't remember having to learn all of the muscles and bones. It was more of a physiology class than anatomy. 7/17/2008 11:26:59 AM |

ohhh, gotcha.....I had Dr. Grant....
It was like.....he would pick five or six muscles out of the entire body to put on the test.....but you had to learn them all b\c you didn't know which ones he'd pick.
The lab was the same....except you had to be able to point it out on a cat... 7/17/2008 3:32:54 PM |

thats how med school is....without the cat. If you don't study it, you can be sure it will be on the test, but 90 percent of what you do study won't be on there. 7/17/2008 4:50:51 PM |

well i need the zo 250 or 421 for pharmacy school pre-reqs at UNC. i'm also taking ch 223 and maybe py212 for other sciences this fall if that matters... i just wanted to see which is easier for people that took either class. i heard 250 is hard 7/17/2008 5:11:42 PM |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't ZO 421 Human Physiology? I took ZO 412 which is Human Anatomy and BIO 183 at the same time. If you have the work ethic you can definitely take the four hundred level course without the intro level ZO or BIO courses. 7/17/2008 10:28:45 PM |

i took zo 421 before zo 250 because 250 was full. didn't really see a problem with it at all, just be prepared for a lot of memorization is all. other than that it wasn't that hard.
now i have to take zo 250 this semester -_- 7/17/2008 11:37:28 PM |
