I spilled some stuff on my kitchen floor last night and thought I cleaned it up (with soap and a wash cloth), but apparently it just smeared it around and is now very sticky.
My cleaning lady won't be here until Thursday so I need to go and buy a mop and some cleaner, and probably a bucket? What kind of mop is good for getting sticky off the floor and what is the best kind of cleaner to use? Pine sol, clorox?
The kitchen floor is hardwood.
Thanks! 7/13/2008 4:17:36 PM |

doesnt really matter.. just an ordinary one like this is fine.. make sure it's something you can squeeze water out of. pinsol is great. dont need a bucket, just use the sink

Does the mop need to have some sort of abrasive material on the bottom to help dissolve the sticky stuff? And pine sol won't hurt the hardwood floor? 7/13/2008 4:25:17 PM |

Make a mixture with 1/2 water, 1/2 pine sol, and NO abrasive material if you want to keep your floors pretty! Use a basic sponge mop like ^5 suggested. Be sure to towel dry the floor once you're done so you don't damage the hardwood

just wanted to post an update: Mission accomplished: I went and purchased a mop and some pine sol and the sticky came right up!
I didn't want to use the sink so I bought a bucket, too. After I finished I donated the purchased items to the janitorial staff of my building. 7/14/2008 8:33:40 PM |
