Jon Miller annoys the shit out of me. He's the main reason I can't stand to watch Sunday Night Baseball.


Every fucking thing that happens in a game is like game 7 of the WS and it's the bottom of the ninth. He gets waaaay to excited calling plays. It's annoying as fuck.

If that counts as a reason, then I have to send a vote to Doug Collins. I think Pam Ward could take him (and maybe any other male as well) though.

If I had to narrow it down for best, then it would be either Gus Johnson, Doc Emerick or Harry Kalas. Gus and Doc bring the excitement, and you can't go wrong with a guy who is said to have the "voice of God"

Nothing of the sort - Tim Vickery is an amazing compendium of knowledge on his sport, dating back to 30-40 years before he was even born, in a part of the world that he's only lived in for like 15-20 year. If other reporters knew half of what he did, sports would be a shit ton more enjoyable to watch (not saying they arent now)

I hate Mike Patrick in everything he does. Someone find the famous clip of him doing that UGA vs. Alabama game that went into OT and he's asking his commentary partner, "what's going on with Britney", in reference to Britney Spears. How in the world are you thinking about what's wrong with Britney Spears when you've got a primetime overtime SEC game going on?

I like both Kirk Herbstreit and Ron Franklin for college football. I also like Brent Musburger.

Worst mismatch of announcer/sport:

Dave O'Brien (baseball guy) with international soccer. The guy had never called (or even watched) a soccer game before the World Cup, and they made him the lead WC play-by-play guy on ESPN.

Scully does the job of two men...play by play and color commentary...but all by himself...and he has some kind of abnormally deep knowledge of the players...he will regularly tell you something about what a current batter did in a game in junior high school, or how he saw a pitching coach at a restaurant 40 years ago
