DirectTV is wonderful!!! I had to turn mine off because my apartment complex is making us pay for cable in our rent now, so I figured I should use it. I can't wait until I can go back to DirectTV though!

They tried to offer me a 2 year contract if I would spend $10-15 more per month and add phone service. I said no, obviously.

My friend thinks that since they're offering a contract that some competition is about to move into this market and they're trying to lock in customers. I hope this is true (about the competition) and that there's finally going to be some verizon FIOS investment in the area or something. Just something to keep them from raising prices and keeping service shitty, at the very least.

I really don't want to jinx it, because my Comcast service has been working without incident for a month now...

but yeah, their service is terrible. I hate having to deal with their customer service reps, because they have all these canned statements that every single one of them throws out at you every single time, to give the impression that they care and respect you as a person. It comes off as so amazingly fake, especially because you'll get bounced from person to person who won't actually offer much help but keeps spouting the same feel-good crap.

like, you'll be on your third rep, and in the middle of yet another person not actually solving your problem, they'll ask, "So how was your weekend?" And if you answer, they'll just go "I see" and completely ignore any actual response.

um i've had TWC for the past 19 years, i know what i'm comparing here.

i'm in a different state right now and comcast is their most popular company here, so i'm using them.

can't wait to get back to TWC.
