Just got offered a job with Harris Wholesale (Anheuser Busch Distributor) in marketing/promotions. Basically this means I will have 20 accounts (bars) that I will be responsible for running Budweiser promotions in, as well as managing the Bud Light girls. Yea this is a paycut for me, but I f-in hate working in an office all day and I decided I needed to get out of here. Free beer, company car, and cell phone will help make up the difference a little bit. The whole buyout scared me at first, but at the end of the day I am paid through the wholesaler which makes me breathe easier.

So from now on if you guys are out and happen to see my face, come over and introduce yourself and I'll buy you a beer!

I had a friend doing that job for Harris and he hated it. Quit after a few months. He was given accounts and told to market products (like Kirin Lite). Said the only good part was the free beer and swag.

Is this the deal where you only work for 12 months?

if it is, my sister in law and a couple other people I know used to do it. By the end of the 12 months you are so tired from partying, drinking and staying up til 3am 5-6 nights a week that you are almost happy to get out.

Yea it's like a year deal and then you can move up from there. I'm sure I will be partied out by that time, but it's worth it for now.

It's a good way to learn the whole "shmoozching" skill which is important if you want to do PR or Marketing one day and aren't ready to just jump into it. It's gotta be for the right person though.

I used to work for Studentcity.com and they pretty much expected me to do the same thing. I was good at it and it ended up working out well. I think this will be a good fit for me for a while.

I've worked with a lot of Harris Wholesale guys in the past. Of the 3 big distributors in this area (Harris, Long, and Mims) I've always liked the Harris guys the best, but I don't deal with their on-premises guys.

Na because at the end of the day I work for the wholesaler. All of my benefits etc are done through them. And people aren't going to stop drinking it. I would imagine it's going to take a while for the effects of that merger to trickle down through AB in the first place.
